Phila originally agreed to hook up a prize, he didn't specify exactly what it would be. Once the tourney ended, he was a little soured about the turn-out, and how we didn't use polls to determine the winner. I'm sure he's forgotten about it by now, but he never really said he wasn't going to give a prize anymore, nothing just ever materialized.

So I don't know.

Peace.

Isn't it? It's weird, because that's why the first draft went in so many different directions, it had uplifting moments, because I didn't want it to be a downer. When I re-wrote it, I wanted to give it more focus, and I think I focused in on the wrong side of it. If I ever do anything else with this one, it would be to turn it around again. But I think I'd be better off coming up with something completely different.

Peace.

I don't think you should mess with it. The point of it still comes thru in that sometimes shit just seems futile to even try.

They should consider making up trophies, it doesn't cost that much to engrave plates in bulk unless it's high quality.

I can't really tell from here, but I think the mailbox fell in love again.
So now my days are filled with errant thoughts,
and make-believes of wherewithals.
She can't bear it all, I guess I do deserve some of the blame too,
but my knees are buckling and I don't know how much more I can weight through.
At first glance you were open to that idea of us,
the possibilities seamed endless.
and I honestly have no clue what happened,
so i'll try to hide my insecurities in the oversized sweatshirts
and a friendship. . .
It was over before it could resurface.
Up in smoke - I was meritless and lonely
when you left me stranded.
I hope you know I had our utopia mapped out
and my chimera was already etched in granite.
I don't know anymore. . .
my hindsights kind of cloudy now,
so it all still seems pretty vague to me.
yeah. maybe you're right.
my premonitions are baseless, but,
I really do think the mailbox fell in love again.

Training Wheels(A Story About Grapes)

Post by BeHemoth »

most of the time I keep close to the vine
brains like cameras disposable minds
I like to yell just because I hate talkin
back to the vine to watch the other grapes droppin

a few cents shy of bringin the whole dollar home
on tracks I drop like palm strikes to the collar bone
kinda grown, and seein all these young'uns
who like to claim they do dirty like the dozens

it's entertainin but still sad to see
need some caffeine to wake up from they fantasy
tryin so hard to be quote "savages"
but quickly alleviated by the law of averages

own your own pulpit 'fore you start preachin
you can't be no king if you ain't got no kingdom
don't drop no salt if your game ain't seasoned
if you talk it best believe that it's somethin to believe in

I knew this puppet named Marionette
fell in love with his strings and married a net
was too afraid to see how scary it gets
but talked big like he could bury a vet

catch your own balance 'fore you try to realign mine
you little grapes need some time 'fore you'll be a fine wine
I ain't tryin to hear what you might try to do
talk to me when you leave the nest and fly the coup

chorus:

this one goes out to all the kiddies still on trainin wheels
you ain't no savage if your moms pay your cable bill
you wanna talk real talk but you won't be able till
you get out your moms house and lose them fuckin trainin wheels

A love affair...

Post by hired gun »

Its been awhile since the two smiled, both of them have filed away the cards and the trinkets/
photos, and little snippets of news and crafts that made them laugh and feel love/
he lays awake at night thinking of a hug--she trudges through the trenches, tired but relentless/
she'll overcome the shadow that's hangin in the air/
both cared, yet were careless--nothing was really shared, but a bond formed, was warm when they once were a pair/
but the oil and water mix couldn't fix itself---she stole away her life, just to save her health/
he thought it kind of selfish just to save herself---she knew before he did though, that he needed help/
and what was felt was real, that's why he wants her closer---transatlanticism playin won't give him any closure---
they both had much to hope for---lost in translation now they exhaust themselves with bad communication/
This ain't nothing new, but the divide spans wide and rings true, fighting to save it, nothing left to do/
So strangers in the night, now speak in awkward tones, if they talk at all, wondering how did it fall/
But can't let the other know, cause they might remember times when a light shined--still they can't let it go/
So its a weird little cycle, I hate you then I like you, then they make do, as they fight through a very long december/
and maybe this year could be better then the last, but at best they can lay to rest a very painful past/
Somewhere buried under scars, breaks and the bruises, bad karma and lost hands, a heart that still stands/
And its callin...
And its cryin....
And its wishin
Before its dying, for once last time around the block again.....they say that great lovers are all best friends.....

real talk. why does this have this "street" tone to me? Teachin without preachin, hard without flashing.

it's my fifth year of school and i'm only a junior
my mom must think "shoulda had him two years sooner"
and my sister? my parents never did take to her
i remember my cousins couldn't relate to us
i was writing and singing to imitate crooners
but somehow, i'm dumb now, they call me a late bloomer
that ain't the case though, ain't tryin to make rumors
but i'm convinced our bodies are just brain tumors
cuz it's too easy to slack when dames choose us
we turn into lame fools who talk about great futures
from insane boozers to tame losers
we view our aims as useless so we aim to lose it
bring it back, re-learn the basics
rework the matrix, grit your teeth first, then taste it
fruit from seeds, bud from sunlight, face it
you need the proper patience before you make hits
though there's stress to earn wages
wanna leave and return famous but first i gotta return favors
i speak on behalf of spurned sages
singing and rapping off-key in locked bird cages
to paint pictures of words - faceless
and tell stories you've heard - ageless
...
my ex girl is all in, but i won't call it
besides in my lifetime, i've faced more blunts than problems

This reminded me of Counting Crows' A Long December. Was that merely coincidence?

Great read, I really felt this. Thanks for sharing.

I don't know, Beh's verse was ok.. didn't go out and call any names. I guess shady or whatever felt it was directed and him and returned with a kind of off beat battle verse. I really feel if you guys just out right battled beh would win since he's a bit more talented and seems to understand that if you're battling somebody you ATTACK them and their faults... not brag about your own strengths. "I'm iller than you" lines don't when battles. They are strictly for bragadacio verses. If you were in a fist fight, you wouldn't spend the whole time flexing your muscles and showing off to the crowd, you would be pounding the other guy.

anyways, nice drop Behemoth

I Know People Who Live Life in Fear
Where Nightmares Live On And Have No Ends
When One Day Feels Like One Whole Year
Where No Ones Real, And Everyone Pretends

Empty Compliments And Fake Smiles
It Causes The Most Unforgiveing Hate
In Your Head Wondering Through The Aisles
Where You Hate Yourself, But Forgave Your Fate

Trapped Inside To Scared To Love
Angel In White Comes To Be Your Guide
Just Another Gift Sent From Above
Follow His Steps Till Your By His Side

It Guides You To The Answer That You So Desperatly Seek
The Hood Covers His Face You Can Not See Who
You Feel Like You Falling,Your Body Is Getting Weak
As Its Arms Go Out You Feel Him Catch You

It Carries You To The Light At The End Of The Door
Where It Lays You Down, And Your Feeling Happy And Free
You Feel Its Touch Disappear But Your Fear Is No More
The Hood Disappears The Angels Face You See
You Couldnt Believe That It Could Be The Key
But Your Fearless Now
Because You Realize, That The IT, Is Just Me.
