Yeah, everything I download is old. If I like an album then I take my happy ass to the store and buy it. Everything is like 10 bucks, anyway, so why the fuck not? I never step into a store hoping to walk out with only one cd, because regardless if I'm looking for something specific I usually end up buying upwards of 3 or 5 at a time.

Last physical CD I bought was Open Mike Eagle's. I've become pretty enthralled with itunes, and the last few albums I've purchased (Noncando, Dumbfoundead) were done using that.

There's no longer any decent record stores by me, so it's much easier to go online, but I don't pirate albums anymore, so it's all itunes for me. It's just so easy to snap buy something, and if I have to actually make myself go somewhere, or order something a wait- it'll never happen.

Last CD I bought was TVZ-Far cry from dead last year under unusual circumstances.

Got 1500+ CDs just taking up space. If I want to listen to one of them it is easier to download it then to go into the basement and dig it out. Shit is worthless.

I will never buy another CD. If people could get the product that the company I work for makes for free, I guarantee that they will not purchase it from us out of some sense of guilt or moral obligation. And we would have to adjust and deal with it. Plus, most artists are fags especially rappers.

Last CD I bought was Trey Day.. for ummmmm, a girl. Usually just buy singles off itunes or DL off Limewire. CD booklets are cool and all, but I prefer not having to deal something to put away, etc

I bought the new Big Boi album and that was the first CD I had bought since whenever Sean P's "Jesus Price Superstar" album came out. I've been downloading a gang of stuff but my ipod adapter in the whip kinda sucks for sound quality so I've been leaning more towards either burning discs of downloaded shit or else actually buying them.
I'll probably cop the new Currensy though because I downloaded like 3 of his mixtapes and his last album and liked them so I don't mind paying for his new shit.

On a bit of a side note, have any

heads been able to find his new album? I've been checkin the HMVs and none that I have gone into have it in stock.

How many people actually use the cd as primary medium though? I mean obviously if you're fortunate enough to have a ride with a cd player you'll play it on the way home.

I just assume most people rip it to their ipod/zune/phone and the disc never comes out the case again.

Bought this today. Booklet has some ill artwork by da gawd Jim Mahfood.

About 8 years ago I used to buy at least one used CD from Coconuts every week, but they became F.Y.E. and the selection is beat now.

These days I ony cop about 3-5 cds per year. Mostly buy used vinyls; they're cheaper and it's more engaging to dig though and support one of the few independent music stores that still exists on LI (Infinity Records) than it is to walk around Best Buy or order something online.

i dont buy cds because i dont use cds. if i did have a use for them still, id have no problems buying them still. i dont feel guilty, really. sometimes i buy some stuff on itunes. not sure why. maybe laziness and convenience. maybe because i have a lot of gift card $$ in my account.

All the time. Mostly listen to music in the car. I certainly don't have time to drag and drop a bunch of files every time I want to listen to something different, that would be ridiculous. I like to listen to albums, not a jukebox.

Will never purchase a download if a physical product is released. I have a couple of times to support the artist when it was a digital only release. But routinely paying for downloads? Paying similar price to a CD when the record company doesn't even have to pay manufacturing costs? That's being taken advantage of. Paying for an album but getting a digital copy instead, that's a joke.

If an artist is an independent artist, purchasing their digital albums can be very good for them.

I buy everything on itunes.

Full album purchases on Itunes count as single unit soundscans just like buying CDs does.

CDs always make messes, get scratched, or lost. I prefer to just get on Itunes and buy the music, then put it on my iPhone. Easy as pi.

A big part of it is, everytime you buy a download, you're getting taken advantage of, paying basically the same price for a downloaded file that costs them nothing...

I guess if you're a pedestrian, an mp3 player makes sense. But the idea of firing up the computer and loading up a bunch of files every time you want to change your jukebox seems completely ridiculous. If I want to listen to something, I go grab the cd from the rack. And buying cds makes me feel like I'm collecting something interesting, not just having bootleg copies sitting on the computer.

Well, what about the cost of recording/mixing/mastering etc? I get what you're saying and agree to an extent (like when local artists who have been selling their CDs for 10 bucks for years suddenly switched to download only and command the same price) but I think buying a download only album in the range of $4.99-$9.99 is fair, as then we're eliminating the overheard cost of packaging.

Also, I'm back in MN for the weekend for the first time in about a year. I found out that all the music stores I frequented that I thought closed down on my last visit had just relocated to areas int he state where the population skews older. Things that make you go hmm.
