MC duos without a large skill gap between them

Post by shakeanjake »

Prodigy is better than Havoc
Andre is better than Big Boi
Buckshot is better than 5FT
Black Thought is better than Malik B
Chuck D is arguably better than Flavor Flav

But what are some duos that have two equally dope rappers?
Not too shitty rappers like MOP or Clipse.

So far I got:
Heltah Skeltah are the only ones I could think of that are both invariably great

Ghost/Rae?
Red/Meth?

Who you got?

Whose arguing that?

Anyway,
when Organized konfusion came out, I thought the two were close but, obviously, that wasn't on point.

Obviously flav was a joke. And the O.K. gap widened fast.

I like smooth b, I wonder if there are some hardcore Greg nice fans out there....

EPMD
Run DMC
Ghost and Raekwon on Cuban Linx
Beatnuts to me were always pretty on par although Juju takes the cake
Camp Lo

i know people wont agree with me but on the Blackstar album both held it down imo.

Posdnous is better than Dove. It wasn't until the newer DLS shit where people claiming Dove as the better emcee on their albums. No mistakes about it though, Pos is the best. He is a top 25 emcee of All-Time IMO. Dove is REALLY REALLY good, but he isn't top 25.

thread title says 'large skill gap'.

I wouldnt say Pos is better than Dove to the point where he's carried De La.
Its far from a Q Tip/Phife situation.

This is a shock post. The answer is clearly the Clipse.

Hell no.

Steele >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tek

Granted, the disparity wasn't as stark when they came out, but it's been growing steadily since and is enormous at this point.

Naughty By Nature (history has simultaneously overrated Treach and underrated Vinnie, in my opinion).

Did Vinnie even spit 10 total verses on all the combined NBN material?

Haven't listened in a while, but I remember his only being absent on the first album. He had much more of a presence on the next two.

Kinda old but Both Jungle Brothers were pretty close in skill. I think Afrika started off being the better one but Mike G took over eventually.

Camp Lo
IMHO, there is no lyricist now or before that can match the lyrical dexterity of Qwel.

i don't know if they're "equally dope"..
but there's definitely not a large skill gap in mobb deep or outkast

Yeah, when you consider they're emceeing from the AOI series on there's not a large disparity at all.

Dope post. Epmd was pretty equal to me. Neither were lyrical giants but one of my favorite rap groups ever. I think Eric Sermon beat Parrish just by the voice.

Beatnuts. Juju was always really dope to me.

With De la Pos was always better than tha dave but when dave stopped rapping nonsense he became pretty good.

With the clipse, I dont know which one is which but one is definitely better than the other. On of them dudes spits cliche trash. The other one says some clever shit.

ATCQ. Even though phife got better after the first album. He still couldnt fuck wit Q tips voice. One of the nicest in hiphop.

Artifacts. Tame always shitted on dude.
