contrived or not.. drake's new lean obsessed unshaven image is a nice contrast to his bleeding heart pretty boy act. album will apparently feature lil wayne, the weeknd, 8ball/mjg, soulja boy w/ production from 40, jamie xx, the neptunes, boi-1da, q-tip, dj premier, etc

I ask this sincerely, but what is it about the Weeknd's image or schtick that people find contrived? Drake, I understand, even if I don't agree, but if anything, I think the Weeknd finally found a way to make party/ after-party music without falling victim to contrivances. It borrows from a lot of the more successful contemporary R&B acts, but at least he has the good sense to borrow from people who're actually talented.
