if you don't like the 3 listed, what makes you think you'd like other political rappers?

billy woods, though I'm hesitant to label him or anyone else a "political rapper." He does address social issues, history and the like.

Nas whenever he runs out of weed.
Kool Keith: I wore a straw hat with a feather to the last Source Awards. When I got to Madison Square Garden everybody was looking at me. When I got back home I seen everybody and their mother in their video wearing a fuckinג€™ straw hat with a feather in it.

Tim Dog: ג€œWhat Kool Keith gonna wear? Iג€™m gonna do that shit in my video. Iג€™m gonna wear that shit really quick. Whatג€™s Tim Dog gonna wear?ג€

word. well, not necessarily "new" or "best", but you could look up Truth Universal, if you've never heard of him.

He's been doing the political rap thing for over a decade, has like 3 solo albums, has toured the country many times, does monthly
rap showcases in his home city of New Orleans, but is still pretty much unknown by the masses.

off the top, that's pretty much the only other political rapper i can think of.

taking the topic seriously for a second - I don't really like the term political rappers for this shit, but you know rappers who comment on politics, society, world affairs, etc. As far as rap from this year:

Billy Woods

Killer Mike

I Self Divine

and to a lesser extent:

Mikkey Halsted (when he's on that kick at least, which is only occasionally)

Illogic (some of his newer stuff is a little more in that vein)

Public Enemy put out an album this year that is actually pretty good too. Although I think I'm the only person on this site that really thinks that.

I thought that would apply to P.E?

What happened to Paris though, is he still around? I know he released an lp after 2000...

Funny you bring him up. I just revisited that EP last week. Really phenomenal work. It doesn't look like he's dropped anything since, which is a fucking shame.

The Coup.

Not a newer group/artist, but if you listen to Tech and dead prez but have never listened to Genocide & Juice or Kill My Landlord, I don't know what to tell you.

Silly thread, but our very own OME deserves mention in it.

And Nicki Minaj.
