Favorite Gravediggaz track
from the list. Only tracks found on their 3 studio albums. Not a best of by any means.

Re: Favorite Gravediggaz track
1-800-Suicide, no question. Sums up the gallows humor vibe of the album perfectly.
Re: Favorite Gravediggaz track
1 800 Suicide was my first exposure to them through the Demon Knight Soundtrack as a young metalhead.
still know all the lyrics, but I think 6 Feet Deep is my favorite. the beat and the flows on that track are just awesome.

Re: Favorite Gravediggaz track
6 feet deep was one of the weirdest Frank zappa ass sounding rap songs I had ever heard when it dropped. I voted for that.
But "Nowhere to run" deserves a shout out cause it set that album off perfectly.

voted Nowhere to Run, Nowhere to Hide. hard decision though. love Defective Trip, especially the guitar solo on the chorus. think i've heard 1-800-Suicide and Diary of a Madmen too many times but they're both classic. Shabazz's verse is crazy. They're not on the list and i probably wouldn't change my vote if they were but i love Blood Brothers and 2 Cups of Blood too

Its probably far from the best, but "Dangerous Minds" is my fave because Too Poetic's verse on that is too damn ill.
Re: Favorite Gravediggaz track
I'm actually surprised that 6 Feet Deep is beating out Diary...

Re: Favorite Gravediggaz track
i will be alone here, but I went with Twelve Jewelz. It's really just a RZA track, but it is a quintessential RZA track while he was in his (rapping) prime, and RZA from 97ish to 2001ish is my fav rapper of all time. i'm a sucker for superscientifical shit and speech impediments.
Re: Favorite Gravediggaz track
^Great song, excellent beat by the one and only Darkim Be Allah as well.

Shouts to whichever producer it was that flipped the same sample on Jamie Foxx's "Unpredictable", instantly reminding me of the former rap song which I'd forgotten about up to that point.

Re: Favorite Gravediggaz track
Lame question, but anyone ever listen to 6 Feet Deep on shrooms? Not the best idea.

Re: Favorite Gravediggaz track
Gravediggaz rank up there with my top 5 favorite rap groups. I think I stand in the minority but ive always liked the first Gravediggaz LP better than 36 Chambers, as a matter of preferable. Probably the album that really tuned me in on the idea of "underground" rap. I met Prince Paul on Beale Street in Memphis while Toyota had him there reporting for Scion A/V. Being the only guy at a Death Metal Fest who recognized him, we made friends quickly. I think it would blow a few minds (maybe not) how much he knows about Death Metal.
I voted 1-800-suicide

Re: Favorite Gravediggaz track
Scion Rock Fest is a yearly multi venue concert thats free to the public with RSVP. It's been in Atlanta, Los Angeles and a few other places. Toyota pays the bands and its a promotional deal. This year it was in Memphis, so I went. I went to my hotel to shower and bumped into Paul at an entrance gate on my way back in. Told him Niggamortis was one of my favorite albums and he and I cruised Beale street up to Hard Rock Cafe to watch Negative Approach then over to New Daisy to catch Corrosion Of Conformity. He's paid as a field reporter and does I guess a blog and video interview segments. I think he told me they pay all his travel and avcomodations plus about $100 an hour. I believe he goes to most of the bigger events they hold for all genres (metal, rap & electronic). Anyhow, Prince Paul, from my interaction is a cool ass dude and as much of a music nerd as anyone here. Very down to earth and approachable. The Afronaut wrote:When was this?catfish hunter wrote:I met Prince Paul on Beale Street in Memphis while Toyota had him there reporting for Scion A/V.

yeah, best time I've had on Beale. I normally avoid that place by all means.
