No Need For Alarm - 20 years later.....
So the anniversary of Del's 2nd album just passed. Thoughts?

Album has aged so well. I can still listen to this and not be bored.

Never cared for it too much. Album gets old after about five songs.
Re: No Need For Alarm - 20 years later.....
Yeah I don't think this is that great of an album to be honest.
Re: No Need For Alarm - 20 years later.....
I'll Third that. It's got a few great songs but it's aged pretty badly IMO. I think, for me, it's more the style of rapping he did .

Yeah the debut is damned near perfect. Once he started messing with Hiero his whole style got way too backpackery and boring.

My personal favorite of his but it hasn't aged well at all. Most Hiero stuff hasn't.

Jayou, it sounds like an east coast bias. What you think?

That makes no sense when we're all praising the previous album which is a way more "west coast" sounding funk based album over the jazzy boom bap album that sounds like it coulda been made in queens.ardamus wrote:Jayou, it sounds like an east coast bias. What you think?

Also, Juan is legit mad and sulking in his bedroom thumbing through "Madkap" liner notes.

Nah, it's just a case of fagthink.ardamus wrote:Jayou, it sounds like an east coast bias. What you think?
But I could see how someone might think that, cause all the dudes who said it has aged terribly all think that the Artifacts catalog is timeless.

Re: No Need For Alarm - 20 years later.....
I actually don't, I think the Artifacts 1st album was terribly overrated. I do however think that if they stayed with the 1991-ish sounding style they had on their demos, it would have been classic. But I'm pretty sure they had massive label difficulty.Jayou Ayen wrote:Nah, it's just a case of fagthink.ardamus wrote:Jayou, it sounds like an east coast bias. What you think?

I still think this album is very dope. I thought we were all supposed to like Fear Itself most, then this, but that we didn't like 93 Til Infinity any more. Please advise.

And he had the nerve to overrate That's Them. Better than the entire Bay Area. Shit like this is why no one likes you on this board.

Well this is an appreciation thread. (and they always turn out to be the opposite)
But yes, Fear Itself is the masterpiece, and No Need For Alarm is an excellent runner up.
The gays can continue to fuck up the thread though,
