El-P is biting his lip so hard. He really can't do or say anything. Mike has been very open about this but the very demographic that runs out to buy RTJ albums or go to their shows are the very ones with Emma Gonzalez tshirts on.

Excellent points. I think it's hilarious that he plays the Rowdy Redheaded Rap Rebel and goes out of his way to write shocking, offensive lines. But when it comes to offering anything of actual intellectual rebellion in a mass culture setting: he's quiet as a field mouse.Philaflava wrote:El-P is biting his lip so hard. I'm more shocked that people didn't know he was pro NRA.

He's also a big time Bernie supporter. And Bernie would be a big time pro-gun guy if it weren't for needing support for the Democratic party. There is no gun problem in Vermont.
Killer Mike is my guy. I bet those people whining didn't listen to anything he said.
Maybe he will spark a movement amongst leftist celebrities who will open up about guns. I guarantee there's a ton of pro-gun celebs out there who don't want to risk their careers by talking about it.
I have a hard time understanding why any group of people who feel disenfranchised would be against gun ownership.

I've been listening to Mike since '03 but I'm by no mean a die-hard fan. With that said, him saying this doesn't surprise me at all.

This isn't about a gun ban, it's about gun control and Bernie is certainly for that. Also, Mike had to lose a chunk of that Bernie base he acquired in recent years too. Whether you own a gun or not, whether you are for the 2nd amendment or not, you cannot ignore the movement. This video is not a good look for Mike.Monotonous wrote:He's also a big time Bernie supporter. And Bernie would be a big time pro-gun guy if it weren't for needing support for the Democratic party. Re: Did Killer Mike just kill the RTJ cash cow?
This absolutely 100% for sure without a doubt is about a gun ban. That is the eventual goal. The people pulling the strings want it. They want European or Aussie style gun control because no "common sense" legislation will ever be enough.
Bernie only wanted gun control when he got more support from Dems. Now Vermont is pushing gun control legislation through in a place where there isn't a gun violence problem. He has defended guns in the past but he doesn't want black people in inner cities to have them.

Looks like someone he trusts advised him of as much as he is now apologizing for the video in addition to justifying things he said.Philaflava wrote:Whether you own a gun or not, whether you are for the 2nd amendment or not, you cannot ignore the movement. This video is not a good look for Mike.

Damage definitely done.
And it's upsetting to see him walking back.
He should double down.
