DR Period is dope and underrated but I'm pretty sure that Easy Moe Bee's discography is on a whole 'nother level.

DR Period's work on M.O.P. albums and Smoothe's first album is great grimey mid-nineties BK production (also many people misattribute "Ante Up" to funk flex or primo, but it was DR), but Easy Moe Bee is one of my favorite producers ever. He made some of the smoothest beats in history, total smoke-out shit, so he gets my vote.

Great match up...this one was really difficult for me. Smoothe's first album is a personal classic and the "BROKEN LANGUAGE" beat never gets old. Neither does "My Brother My Ace."

Easy Moe Bee fell of the face of the planet, but "Gimme The Loot" and "Ready To Die" are some of the hardest beats ever. "Temptations" is also a personal fave.

Voted Moe Bee.

i used to be a huge DR fan but dude really hasn't done much in a long time and when he does it's some disappointing throwaway so easy takes this pretty easily...

Easy is the winnar, but to play Devil's advocate what has Easy done worthwhile post-97? I never copped Now or Never, but I heard it was a big disappointment. In other words I think your vote is right, but I'm not sure your line of reasoning makes much sense.

This isn't right. We can't have a matchup like this round 1.

i shoulda mentioned the fact that dr never really put in work ever in his career. he was on fame and danz's albums but other than that and his work with smoothe and trigger, dude wasn't doing shit while easy was a beast in the 90's and put in much work. sure both have been pretty much non-factors in recent years but easy's body of work kills dr period's.

it sucks too cause i have always felt that dr coulda been a top-tier producer had he actually put in work and had more beats out there but dude was always m.i.a. for some reason. duke ended up being just another waste of potential.

DR produced too many fucking songs I like to listen while punching stuff to be a waste.

I'm going to drink malt liquor and listen to my personal faves of each.

'Mo Bee is really the best example of a mid 90's boom-bap producer carryin' on Marley's whole hard fonked-out rootsy Stax soul sound (best example of this has to be the spine of Ready To Die with Warning, Gimme The Loot, Machine Gun Funk, Ready To Die and The What) when the majority of other NY producers in '94 were biting Primo, Pete and RZA or dabbling in dull mid-tempo jazz based beats with weak drums.

But let's not forget that he produced some of 'Kane's best post-Long Live The Kane tracks like Another Victory, 'Nuff Respect Due, Rest In Peace, Here Comes 'Kane, Scoob And Scrap and probably ghost-produced the likes of Warm It Up Kane and The Beef Is On.
