The Drum Upload Thread

Post by Captin Planit »

My external HD crashed about 2 months ago. I put all of my samples and everything on there. Lost the tracks to every beat I have.

Aaand I'm lazy. I promise to contribute so long as people upload some drums!

not to go off topic but how do you guys feel about sampling from a sample like using a dre or kanye kit? I know people try to sell them on ebay and whatnot too but how do you feel about using it? anythign is fair game? or does it depend on the sample?

back on topic i will upload some drums this week

meh. if it's something as minor as a drum hit, i don't give a shit really.. producers snag drums from hip hop records all the time.

just seems like not even that long ago you could get dissed if you sampled drums from anything other than source vinyl

the game has changed Image

there's this book called 'making beats: the art of sample-based hip hop' by this dude joe schloss. it's a pretty good read in general, but it has some good discussion on sampling aesthetics and ethics. i recommend it.

the end product should validate itself no matter how you make it. extra labor gives you brag points, and then again, so does minimal labor.

thnks for k-acm-1994 link!!
