The PPV buys on this should set a record. Mayweather is the ultimate heel and Alvarez is the upstart Mexican that all the Latinos will get behind. He's legit and I wouldn't be surprised if he won.

The rematch (if there is one) would break the first fight record.

No, but I bet it does good. Floyd's last PPV did about 800,000 buys, Canelo is certainly a big draw and Guerrero was not, but there is also the issue of this being on SHO. I'm thinking 1.6.

Floyd is smart.

Beat one of the best potential having boxers before his prime.

Canelo is my new fav as of 2 yrs ago.

Floyd is too smart to lose.

I haven't given too much consideration to tonight's fights. Just going to sit back and enjoy the mayhem; Showtime could get ugly.

Venue: Home Depot Center, Carson, California
Promoter: Golden Boy
TV: Showtime

Marcos Maidana 147 vs. Josesito Lopez 145
Erislandy Lara 153.8 vs. Alfredo Angulo 153

Apparently Gamboa is fighting on the Dawson-Stevenson undercard. Whatever. I know I'm not the only one that's lost interest there.

If Maidana Lopez is at least half as exciting as I think it will be we may have a FOTY candidate on our hands. Angulo is going to get schooled bad by Lara, and I really don't care too much about the HBO card in general but I still like Gamboa.

Sources close to the information have informed us that WBC & WBA jr. welterweight champion Danny Garcia has agreed to terms to face top jr. welterweight contender Lucas Matthysse. According to our sources, the bout will take place on the undercard of the highly-anticipated September 14 showdown between undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather and undefeated jr. middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. "Danny Garcia was adamant about getting the fight done, so it got done," one source commented.

Be sure to check back soon as more details unfold.

This card is going to sell like crazy, Matthysse Garcia could have easily been a big fight on its own.

^ It's not that I don't believe FightHype but I just need a more credible source to confirm before I get hyped.

Also,

- Canelo is more live in this fight than people are giving him credit for
- I'm going to severely miss the 24/7 build-up for this
- Setting Garcia vs Lucas on the undercard would imply the winner would be in line for Floyd, either of which I think is an easier fight for Floyd than Canelo.
- Ajose Olegun vs Hank Lundy is the main even for ESPN2's FNF this week. Premium fucking television.

Yeah, I butchered Ajose's name there but I do know that if Hank ain't on his game Friday, he's gon' get that work.

It's not Matthysse, but if Lundy can pull this one out I think he puts himself back in the good graces of boxing pundits who had high hopes for him.

yeah, lundy got all the talent in the world. i've kinda grouped him with linares and khan as guys with massive talent but just can't seem to get the W sometimes. i've only seen the one ajose fight but i'm starting to think that if if he would have been in the ring with any other 140lber, he would have won or made it very close. i'm looking forward to seeing him fight again.

Today in the UK
Image
Undefeated American Heavyweight Malik Scott takes on Derek Chisora. If you're looking for the next American HW champ Scott actually appears to be promising. He made it look easy against the rugged Ukranian Glazkov in his last fight, a fight he CLEARLY won while displaying superior boxing ability en route to some bullshit scorecards that declared the fight a draw. He isn't fat, he's damn quick and athletic for his size, and he appears to be the goods at this point. Chisora will be the biggest step in his career, which like fellow American Deontay Wilder's, up until his last fight is padded with numerous victories over a bunch of no-namers.
This should be interesting.

Also, Hughie Fury called out veteran Tony Thompson, the man responsible for KOing British HW hopeful, and Dan Rafael's "prospect of the year" David Price, twice. Tony Thompson responded that he's wants the fight, which would take place on the undercard of David Haye vs. Tyson Fury.

He's also responsible for one of the best post-fight interviews in quite some time

for sure. i guess when he takes a fight seriously, he does well. ajose's chin is on some next level shit, though. not sure how many guy's could have eaten as many punches as he did and made it through an entire fight. just wish he was more active.

i thought HBO announcers were total homers. The guys working on box nation are the absolute worst. Come off completely amateurish. Watching them run through the malik scott replay and their agreement with the ref was like watching russel mora during the post fight interview saying that on the replay mares wasn't a guilty of a low blow.
