I dunno. Maybe limit it to decades? Like "best draft of the 80s/90s/2000s" or something like that? Because perspective is obviously important when evaluating a draft, and its not gonna be fair to compare drafts that include HOF inductees against ones that have guys still playing.Reason wrote:peanut butter wrote:Top high school senior prospects in 2007:

Beyond that, how incredible is it to think that Pete Kozma was ever considered a better baseball player than Mike Stanton?

Barry Bonds, son of Bobby, was drafted by the Pirates the same year that the Orioles selected Dell Curry, father of Stephen.

Re: The Official 2013 MLB Season Thread
yeah his control is coming back. last 3 starts have been real nice.
Re: The Official 2013 MLB Season Thread
gonna watch the replay in a bit(since I was at work for the day game), but with lower velocity he has to have control to have any shot of staying a starter.

Re: The Official 2013 MLB Season Thread
He was getting a bunch of ground balls, and as a result threw only 100 pitches in 8 innings, while still managing to strikeout 8. Now granted that was against a pretty anemic Brewers lineup, but that type of efficiency is really promising. Plus Kuiper pointed out that he's working much quicker between pitches. Now obviously there's no guarantee he's gonna be consistent, because that's been his biggest challenge, but these are all pretty good indicators of him developing his ability as a pitcher who no solely longer relies on 95 mph fastballs to strike out everyone.alpha wrote:gonna watch the replay in a bit(since I was at work for the day game), but with lower velocity he has to have control to have any shot of staying a starter.

Re: The Official 2013 MLB Season Thread

Re: The Official 2013 MLB Season Thread

Re: The Official 2013 MLB Season Thread
i posted that after seeing him hit a 2 run homer on one leg (he is limping badly even when walking, his other leg is fucked up right now) against the greatest closer ever in a battle that included two foul balls off his leg and a major in-at-bat adjustment after those foul balls of diving into the box instead of waiting back (he is on some hitting science shit right now) then followed that up by watching his next game in which he had 3 hits including another homer, ALL ON ONE LEGalpha wrote:better than Barry?Reason wrote:i can officially say i've never seen anyone quite like miguel cabrera
after seeing that specific sequence of events, i can definitely say i've never seen anyone quite like him, doesn't have to mean he's the best ever seen, it just means nobody does it quite like he does

Miggy is amazing but he's still not coming close to Bonds 4 straight MVP seasons.
He's never done anything like a 73 home run season or put up a .600 OBP.
