Re: Keeperstown (2014)
Who trades a #1 with an impressive track record for a closer anyways?

Re: Keeperstown (2014)
not even an elite closer, he was moved into that role by default because matt capps sucks. the Twins are going to lose 100 games. I was feeling silly for taking steve chisek early in the draft but verlander is still a number one ace on a great team, he'll get his numbers.
i'm not trying to dog your trade homie, just kinda perplexed

Re: Keeperstown (2014)
He offered me Verlander for Jansen but I need to hold on to my closers if i'm to make a run and i feel like SP is a strength of mine. Otherwise, I probably would have done it.
if he thinks Verlander is done, I don't think it's that bad. I think it's dangerous to assume that someone always starts slow, they'll pick it up later in the season. It's better to get out a season too soon then a season too late.
However, the Reason corollary applies here. I feel like he could have gotten another player in return. Maybe not a great one but a solid piece if he's trying to make a run.

Re: Keeperstown (2014)
lmao @ gloss losing his lid here. The ironing.
Do you, alpha dog. (i'm assuming the 109ers is alpha).
Also, I think Perkins is one of the safest closers out there. He's not Jansen, Kimbrel, or Chapman but dude has put up some damn good numbers in the past year and a half so far. If he's just a placeholder, he's a fucking great placeholder.

109ers is prolly jredd109, if I had to guess. He only uses the name for every fantasy baseball league.

1. you gotta be shitting me if you think Verlander is still an ace like Gloss still assumes that he is.capable_keL wrote:so get rid of chris davis now?Gregg Popabitch wrote:I think it's dangerous to assume that someone always starts slow, they'll pick it up later in the season. 2. Chris Davis is not as good as last year but still valuable. I never assumed he could put up another season like last year's again.

Re: Keeperstown (2014)
verlander will get 16-18 wins
210+ strikeouts and an ERA in the high 3s. he is still an ace on an elite team.
perkins and buehrle have nothing in common besides bing white

Re: Keeperstown (2014)
Verlander is an ace. He isn't as valuable as Wainright, Kershaw, Darvish, Strasburg but if he isn't top 10 he is close to it.
Would you rather have Tim Hudson than Scherzer? Because of what they both have done thus far? In spring training, Verlander looked like he looked in '11. I think giving up on any top tier talent this early is foolish.

Re: Keeperstown (2014)
Verlander is an ace?
I think that is a crock of shit. He was meh SP last year and he's been just as meh this year. You guys need to let go of this perception and readjust to the fact that Verlander isn't even a top 20 pitcher anymore.
OHHHHHHHH BUT HE HAD A GOOD SPRING TRAINING. Really? This is what we're basing things off of now? Spring Training? Can I give you a list of sucky players that had good spring trainings or do you want to pick and choose your evidence?
Oh and just in case you'll ask:
Kershaw
Darvish
Wainwright
Felix
Strasburg
Scherzer
Bumgarner
Tanaka
Sale
Wacha
Teharan
Price
Greinke
Samardija
Jered Weaver
Cueto
Gray
Shields
Cobb
Price
Anibal Sanchez
Lester
Those are 22 guys that I'll take over Verlander not including younger pitchers that I'd probably keep over him (for keeper purposes) if I had to make a decision at the end of the season.
You guys really have a hard on for that september last year, huh? The reason I think he could have gotten another solid piece for him is because of this perception that he's still good lol. He could have swindled the shit out of you two.

Re: Keeperstown (2014)
I hope you eat those words in due time. LOL @ at some of those pitchers you'd take over Verlander on that team now. Fucking Weaver and Cobb too? Go get ready for GOT cuz clearly you aren't thinking right.

and both of those guys have had better numbers last year and so far this year. That is a pretty large sample size. Just come to grips with the fact that Verlander is not as good as you think he is.Philaflava wrote:I hope you eat those words in due time. Re: Keeperstown (2014)
I would take verlander over about 10 of those names but its close. The point has been made that the going rate for him is Glenn Perkins. That says it all

you can take 10 of those guys. the thing is, all 10 of those guys will most probably finish the year better in yahoo fantasy than verlander.

Re: Keeperstown (2014)
i need saves.
and no, i couldn't have gotten a better deal cause no one ever accepts or offers better deals. (except when i traded gloss stras).
so fuck all of you. you want a better deal than make a better offer. i put verlander on the trade block last week. nobody offered shit.

you must have been the only guy i didn't offer him to then.
does anyone even check the trading block lists or am i the only one? i put big v on there on the 25th. 0 offers.
also, verlander hasn't been consistently good since 2012.
Re: Keeperstown (2014)
i thought we talked about the waiting period between trades and the actual roster moves last year? anything over 2 days is excessive.

Yeah, you definitely didn't offer him to me. If you had offered Stras to me, we probably could have had a healthy counter offer session.
