I would have been excited for this had they actually ponied up the money to pay him 5 years ago, apparently Klinsmann wanted xxx amount and they Sulanti wouldn't do it so they went with the cost efficient home grown guy Bob Bradley. Yet the whole time Bob was manager Jurgen was always in the shadows, always being rumored to replace him. So I can't say it is a surprise, and I can't say I am completely sold on Jurgen as a manager, but a change was definitely needed, and hopefully the roster selections, and style of play reflect that.
Also...his first game is going to be against Mexico on Aug. 10th.

Hey mud, you said Liverpool won't finish in the top 4 this season in the other Football thread. Want to put some money on it?

Damn.. Pastore to PSG for a ton of money. With Malaga getting Santi Cazorla a few days ago I'm looking forward to seeing how those teams stack up in the next few years.
Also, Dortmund, Napoli, and Villareal should be fun to watch in the CL this year. Both Dortmund and Villareal lost a piece each in Sahin and Cazorla, but should still be strong, while Napoli hasn't lost anyone, and play an open game (for an Italian team) in an interesting formation.

I'm not a huge fan of clubs spending money they didn't make but Paris is a great city and really should have a better team than the one they've had in recent years.
--------------Hoarau
Menez--------------------Gameiro
------Matuidi-Pastore-Sissoko
Looks good.
I still think Tottenham has a better squad than Liverpool. 6th place seems about right.

Owen clearly looked offsides, but the ESPN broadcast never gave a replay showing the line. Thiago with another blast to add the others this preseason.
Has to be sweet for United regardless of preseason "friendly" or not.

dunno about that, especially if modric goes. plus spurs will be distracted by the dreaded europa league.

I dont think Modric going for big money will be such a loss. He's a great little footballer but his goal & assist record for a supposedly world class player is shocking. Last season in the PL he scored 3 & set up 3 & was voted our player of the year. Aaron Lennons record was the same 3-3 & i voted him as worst player of the year. If Modric stays then thats all good but if Chelsea offer 25 plus sturridge i'd bite thier hand off.

On the subject of Modric's possible move to Manchester United or Chelsea, some have pointed out that he has low goalscoring and assist records at Tottenham, recording just three of each last season. However, playing delicate through-balls in the final third is plainly not his main job at Spurs -- that task falls to Rafael van der Vaart, who played as a classic No. 10 between the lines. Modric was instructed to sit deeper, and knock balls out to Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon on the flanks, in addition to playing passes in toward van der Vaart.
Modric's low goals and assists statistics should be used to illustrate the role he plays, not to criticize his contribution, because he is a controlling playmaker, like Xavi. He recorded more passes per game than any other Tottenham player last season, 62.5 -- which, incidentally, is more than any Manchester United player. Its best contender on that measure was Paul Scholes, who played 61.7, demonstrating exactly why United would want Modric to be Scholes' replacement.

It won't hurt if you use the money to buy a top striker and right winger.

Just physically speak Ngoo looked like a man among boys out there in the U20 WC, very leggy for a striker, like Balotelli (not that he has that quality or crazy in him).
As much as I want to shout that I believe Pool will be back in the top 4, on paper, we are not one of the Top 4 most talented clubs. If the plan is to rebuild the core of the squad with try hard englishmen, qualify for CL, then bringing in top quality foreign I can co-sign it, if Kenny and Henry think the current squad of players is going to be enough they have a very rude awakening coming.
Can we stop buying CM's and address the defense already?
Still so much of the transfer window to go for you guys to already be betting results, the real craziness has yet to begin.
