Yeah, but how old is Roy?

I think they should add a wildcard into the event and bring in Kentucky's finest Ron Mercer.

CFFC Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
ג€˜Mercilessג€™ Ray Mercer vs Kimbo Slice headlines CFFC 5
Sponsored by Trump Entertainment Resorts

CFFC 5 - MERCER VS KIMBO: TWO WORLDS-ONE CAGE

The largest MMA event on the East coast will make history on June 23, when the former Heavyweight boxing champion of the world, 'Merciless' Ray Mercer steps inside the CFFC cage to battle Internet legend and Streetfighting champion, Kimbo Slice at CFFC 5, at the Boardwalk hall in Atlantic City, NJ!

Mercer, the US Olympic Gold medalist in 1988 and former WBO World Heavyweight Champion is coming off a four-win streak to step up to the CFFC Cage as the greatest boxer ever to enter MMA. Kimbo is an equally formidable, even ominous figure, whose renown is a product of the Internet Age. In a series of videos that countless hundreds of thousands have downloaded online, Kimbo is shown in action straight from the pen of a Hollywood scriptwriter, except this could not be more real. In one fight after another Kimbo rains catastrophe on a series of contenders in bareknuckle bouts with thousands in cash on the line. The weaker ones are lucky ג€“ they go out early. The tougher they are, the deeper the damage. The truly tough go to the hospital, and stay.

Says CFFC Matchmaker Gary Marino: ג€œIג€™ve been working on trying to get Kimbo a fight for the last year. Ray Mercer showed up at CFFC 3 and indicated he wanted to enter MMA. To anyone who doubts that this fight will be history in the making, I have two words, ג€˜google kimbo.ג€™ג€œ

Partisans on both sides are claiming their champion will dominate. It is true that the sport of Mixed Martial Arts has never seen striking at the level of Ray Mercerג€™s. And it is true that Kimbo is nightmarishly skilled and athletic. Too Kimbo has been training tirelessly at Miamiג€™s famed Freestyle Fighting Academy. But Mercer has a background in wrestling. The only sure bet is that the winner will be the fans.

Mixed Martial Arts was introduced to the public in 1993 to determine the superior form of fighting, in front of the eyes of the world. It has since evolved into a hybrid sport, with only subtle differences in style. In a throwback to the Golden Age of MMA, this epic contest is the street versus the ring, in a cage, answering who wins, the street fighter or the prizefighter? You would have to go back to the 19th Century, to The Great John L.Sullivan, the founding figure of boxing in the USA, to find a real fight of this stature.

The card will also feature two title bouts, and six other exciting matchups. If you love fighting, and want to be a part of history, be there on June 23 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey as the referee says ג€œYou ready? You ready? LETג€™S RUN THIS!ג€

The Cage Fury Fighting Championship (CFFC) brand of Mixed Martial Arts is the hottest emerging promotion in the worldג€™s fastest growing sport, with its eye firmly on the top. Owned and operated by Felix and Amy Martinez and headquartered in Feasterville, New Jersey, CFFC fight programs feature four live shows per year, featuring the most aggressive fighters in the Northeast, and across the world.

If you would like further information on the event, or to schedule an interview with a fighter, please contact Felix Martinez at 856.498.0688 or email Felix@CageFuryFighting.com

It'll be interesting to see Kimbo fight someone of a non-gimmick standing.

Horrible fight. Kimbo should either attempt to box for real or fight somebody who isn't 46 years old.

I was pretty suprised by the outcome. I thought that Kimbo was going to come in and try to box with Mercer, I which case I thought Ray would wreck him.

Not bad.

Displayed a lot more technique than I would've expected (muay thai clinch w/ knees, body shots, guillotine choke from closed guard). Bas Rutten did well with him.

now lets see him in a more competitive freakshow fight versus Giant Silva or Zulu. Pride needs to make this happen if they ever get another show out

Co-Signed, Hope he doesnt think he can make a career out of fighting wahsed up and over the hill fighters. Then again he made a internet career fighting against dudes who looked over matched against him. Would love to see him fight some legitimate fighters.
