and i could really use a ack emoticon, slick hair back on a 6 hr ride to see the weekend. on a tuesday. vancity yall shit, sorry, meant to edit not quote

pbr&b digidub styles

it's odd that i'm contributing more to a thread about a genre i don't particularly like while reggae, psych and black rock threads are going untended

This is even worse than the other one. Drake on The Zone was the best part.

I don't get the hype about this dude at all.

It's a very dark album content wise. I deleted "Silly" and added "Bodywork/FMBO" and "Nothing But Love" to my track list. Both of thsoe songs are song of the year contenders and make 1977 sound more complete.

Bodywork/FMBO http://hulkshare.com/hx7iratp25z4

Nothing But Love http://hulkshare.com/lybyb7iyxtlp

Anybody else think Form of Flattery is about The Weeknd?

weeknd makes the most sense w/ all the 15 minutes talk. i'd wager it's def not about drake.. and most other popular r&b dudes just don't get the-dream comparisons for it to fit

:old man yells at cloud:

The disproportionate attention accorded to the Weeknd is reflective of an attitude towards R&B that just won't seem to die: the further away it gets from its formalist roots, the more praise is lavished on it. Conversely, those artists catering to the genre's core audience are ignored or dismissed. The former is not synonymous with being inventive or interesting. The Weeknd are thoroughly unremarkable: in terms of both songcraft and conveying emotion, they are painfully inadequate. The hood signifiers ladled into the lyrics sound forced and contrived, not least because the singer sounds bored out of his skull. The addition of vaguely lo-fi chillwave textures are a lazy way of connoting darkness ג€“ but the Weeknd's sound isn't too far removed from arrangements that have become commonplace in R&B. It's like a particularly shallow take on a Trey Songz mixtape.

A couple of the songs on that new Weeknd just ruin it for me. It might be the sequencing but it just falls apart in the middle I think
