^ Last nights Mary Anne Hobbs with Kode 9 & Burial.
Standout track for me from Kode9/Burial set.

Theo Parrish - Soul Control
http://www.mediafire.com/?ozw0jz2dwwg

More deep house/detroit style than uk but great nonetheless
IMHO, there is no lyricist now or before that can match the lyrical dexterity of Qwel.

in small doses. I like a couple of Zinc mixes I heard but he's always been one of my favorite DJs. I think the term 'crackhouse' started as a joke though.

Yes, Zinc is the man. I'm not sure if the name is a joke or not but I do know that it is the official moniker of the genre now. Personally, I like it a lot.

Just saw a Trouble&Base show featuring AC Slater on saturday, it was pretty live. When the dubstep came on people went crazy. My thing with dubstep is that the tracks I don't like I hate but the tracks I do like I love. It's pretty hit or miss with me.

the Crackhouse thing came about when Zinc was touring and had asked his agent to book him some shows playing house. He was playing all that AC Slater/Fake Blood type stuff and Dynamite (his MC at the time) referred to it as Crackhouse and it stuck.

With you on the dubstep thing too. Certain tunes I love but as with anything theres a lot of generic shit about.

Stella Sessions 18.07.2007

Code: Select all

http://www.mediafire.com/?f79b77tyh7nbdk9
Then there was the four hour back 2 back (b2b) special, the show that had so many guests youג€™d need a widescreen monitor to read it on the iTunes podcast. Crammed into one studio came Skream b2b Benga b2b Plastician b2b Chef b2b LD b2b Hijak ft Sgt. Pokes. Geeneus passed through too. Weasel Crew on tour!

Itג€™s generally expected that when you get that many world class dubstep DJs in one room, the levels of tunes that get drawn for will be, well, levels. But few other DJs could have taken the banter to such heights. Somehow Benga became ג€œThe Bengalatorג€ before surprising everyone by becoming a rapper. Plastician became ג€œPlastic Ianג€ before surprising even more people by becoming an ג€œibby-dibbyג€ old school garage MC. ג€œInsiiiiide the riiiiide!ג€ With everyone else driving, Skream and Pokes surprised themselves by drinking two crates of premium strength Stella between them. Perhaps this explains why, when Benga and Hijak were heading home and texted him to say theyג€™d just driven past a man running naked down the A13, Skream couldnג€™t comprehend it. ג€œIג€™m not being funny, but welcome to London!ג€ he exclaimed. Welcome planet earth: just donג€™t ask whatג€™s happening.

thanks. Anyone else think "Hyperthrust" is a blatant Hudson Mo rip off? Still good, just makes me want more Hud

^hyperthrust is the only track i'm really feeling off it tbh... and hud mo and rustie have always sounded very alike at times, no bad thing and no surprise - they did come up together after all.

it's similar but I think hud mo takes more chances and is overall more interesting than rustie. I like that Dragonfly track.

that Like Me track is ill.
