mood fitting mixes

Post by Blockhead »

so, the last week or so, it's been cold in NYC and i've been walking around a lot just listening to my ipod. something about this season (possibly that it's always cold out) kinda bums me out so i got to thinking about making a mix perfect for the "walking around new york in the cold and hating it" vibe. basically, it's a bunch of somewhat depressing/mood fitting songs tailor made for long shitty walks around a cold city. i know people love free music so here it is:

http://www.mediafire.com/?yywyydfnn4h
1)i'm going home: prince conley
2)mr. wind: ken boothe
3)sing swan song: can
4)giving up: donny hathaway
5)yesterday: roosevelt grier
6)i'm sad about it: lee moses
7)rain or shine: dinah washington
8)down by the river: buddy miles
9(get thy bearing: donovan
10)your new love is a player: johnny "guitar" waston
11)sad little girl: les mccann
12)four walls : eddie holman
13) rich folks hoax: rodriguez
14)ruby lee: bill withers

feel free to add on other mood fitting mixes. for example the "i just lost my virginity celebration" mix, or the "i just got robbed at gunpoint" mix...really, this whole thread is a way for me to get some free music off you guys...now, make some mixes...and :upload:

i love that buddy miles song.

its funny cause mindbender used it on a song from SBU from like 1997 that is actually pretty good.

The one called "Be here to Love Me"/ yeah I seen it. On the extras, his son is talking about a prank he played on his band in a hotel room.
The story in itself is funny but
Basically the prank goes like this.
Take the little trash can in the hotel bathroom and make a small hole in the bottom.
Tape up the hole.
Fill trash can with water.
Leave the room with everyone like normal.
On the ride back to hotel let everyone know how much you gotta piss.
Leave door cracked on restroom so they can hear you "piss"
Use the prepared trash can to simulate the longest piss ever.
After a while, add dramatic effect by covering the hole up for a second, and then keep going.
Townes' son said he never heard his dad let the others in on the joke so he was like,
"There is probably a story floating around that Townes took the longest pisses ever."
anyhoo it was funnier when it was his son was reminiscing about it.

Yeah that "waitin around to die" song is up there on my list.
the other two songs are just old americana songs.
we'll have to give him a thread.

chad sexington is beyond jacking

when chad sexington makes a 'jacking for beats' song it's actually just one beat, but it sounds like many different beats cause chad got mad styles to flip

I dunno but I just wanted to add to the "leaving/arriving" mixes post-

A couple of times my ipod has done some weird shit when I was on flights...

I was leaving for Europe to go on tour for a few months and meet hairy eurho's after breaking up with my ex, and I had the ipeezy on random. The song that came up as I was taking off was "traveling man" by Mos Def & DJ Honda.

Then I was heading from Barcelona to Rome and same thing, the song that came up as I was taking off was "Man Oh Man" by The Impressions.

"Man oh man, have you been to spain?/
Where the joy of laughing people will make you happen again/...
And man oh man, before you go home/
catch a flight on to the wonders of Rome...
I want to go back to the sweetness of time"

My ipod is Dionne Warwick.

I have no idea how to accomplish what you're asking.

What you want to do is put all the songs into one folder, then compress them using Winrar or Winzip. Take the zip/rar file to your favorite file sharing site, and upload. Give us the link.

If there's a faster way I don't know what it is.

here's another mix (i've been in a real mix making mood lately...)
this is more of a summertime spring vibe. consider it the "first nice day of the year" mix. i suppose that only applies to us east coasters (cause we have seasons and all) so to the west coast people it's a "everyday" mix.

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?mva5xzzkkem
1)big bird: eddie floyd
2)a silver key: lilliput
3)lady day and john coltrane: gil scott heron
4)the crickets sing for anamaria: marcos valle
5)ursalina: bill cosby
6)tell me why has our love turned cold: willie hutch
7)you can be a star: luther davis group
8)comin' home baby: mel torme
9)ordinary guy: joe bantaan
10)ali baba: john holt
11)les fleur: ramsey lewis
12)high street magic carpet
13)golden brown: the stranglers
14)breezy: baby dayliner
