IDM/Ambient/Electronic

I just recently got around to listening to some aphex twin(who's newest moniker is "the tuss" now) and haven't really been paying attention to the genre(s) for years. A few years back I discovered boards of canada and enjoy a lot of there material. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate them.

I've been looking around and it has been a lot more hit than miss. Autechre is just way too fucking crazy now for me to get into and a lot of the ambient stuff i find seems like it is going to be good but just drags out and shows no real variety or is plagued with terrible ass rapid fire drum beats that seemingly have no real rhythm. here is something I came across that is actually pretty chill.

the use of the term IDM totally ruins electronic instrumental as a genre classification because it often leads people on a quest through piles of unlistenable music that is often just a shitty sample started in a time signature that would normally have flow but usually feels jerky

I don't even know what IDM stands for, it's a label that pops up when I was looking at autechre and aphex. Thanks for the recommendation DLG, If I had to guess what that stood for I would say Draconic's Lead Guitarist?
