keeping track of shows...?

Post by darkwingduck »

i found soundkick.com to be helpful.

I hate it when I realize too late that a band I wanna see is in town and the show is sold out.

how do yall keep track of bands you wanna see live?

primarily facebook (friend/like/join group of local promoters/promotion companies who do shows in your lane)
&
secondly the alternative weekly paper(s)

could be more of a daunting task for any city over 3-4M.. but pretty easy to keep on top of here

Yeah, it's a massive chore keeping up with bands touring.

Last.fm is great with its alerts, and I lurk on a message board called Drowned in Sound which is great for keeping abreast of wha gwan in London, and with non hip hop music generally.

Twitter is also pretty good, it has to be said.

Time Out London does a list in the back of the magazine showing all of the shows over the next 3-4 months. I'm sure the NYC one must do the same?

I'm sure NYers already know and others don't care, but BrooklynVegan is pretty much the one stop shop for live music news round these parts.
