I been sleeping Rubin for a minute.
THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS FORTUNA.
Big Meters fan. Their Live On The Queen Mary album has some great stuff on it too...the only downside is that Cyril Neville isnt mic'd well at all(but you can still tell he's killing it), but its still pretty damn enjoyable.

Great stuff, fortuna! Props
I’m always up for live Meters in their heyday. Saw them in 2005-06 in NYC, past, past their prime. They were 2 hours late, and most of the songs they performed turned into these perfunctory jams heavy on quasi-metal guitar riffing from Leo Nocentelli, which went against the whole point of what was great about them and their steez. It wasn’t a horrible show, just horribly meh. Art Neville didn’t sing at all, almost looked like he was disabled or something. Zigaboo didn’t disappoint. Hearing this makes me wish I was old enough to see them back then

Re: The meters - live [1978-11-21]
Saw this mini-tour when it came through Boston a couple weeks back. It was George, Zigaboo, and Leo with Page McConnell from Phish on keys. Obviously, Page is not Ivan Neville, but he stayed out of the way and let the guys do their thing. Show was pretty sick - this video doesn't really capture how good it was. Clearly nothing like the Meters in their prime, and very annoying to have phish kids dominating the audience. But not too often you get to see these guys play together outside of NOLA...I was pretty excited.
can't figure out how to embed this for some reason. used the old embed code, but no dice. here's the link:
