Songs That Didn't Make it on CD, but are on Cassette/Vinyl

Post by Dan »

Since I've had my iPod, I can now listen to albums the way I remember them. Due to time restraints, many songs had to be omitted from CD releases. This was especially notable with Digital Undergrounds "Sex Packets" album which had 3 additional tracks, plus the full version of 'Gutfest '89'.

LL's "Walking with a Panther" had 2 missing, including one of his best tracks, 'Jack the Ripper'.

I can't find Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince's 'Another Special Announcement' off of "He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper." So if you have that :upload:

I got my first CD player in 1990, so I stopped buying cassettes after that point.

I never understood why EPMD-"Brothers, From Brentwood, L.I." never made it onto the Business Never Personal album, and I remember the Pharcyde tape having a different version of "I'm That Type Of Nigga"....and while we are on the subject of EPMD, I never understood why they faded out Erick's verse on Rap Is Outta Control at the end where he says I rock Fisherman Buckets...I wonder if there is version with an extra verse out there.

p.s. the "yes yes yall. ya don't stop" from this joint is what we sampled for the hook of "Daylight".

"You Dont Know Me" from UGK's Ridin' Dirty cassette.
I'll dig it up, because it is good as shit. Back when Bun used to flip every beat he rapped on.

I just remembered another cassette version that I'm after. DJ Magic Mike & The Royal Posse. I had that cassette and remembered it having a white background rather than gray like the CD. The song "Magic Mike Cuts the Record" was slightly different on the cassette. Probably a sample issue, but I would love to get a hold of that version.

Very very dope track, but very similar to "Return of the Funky Man"... the beat, and the structure... which may be why it was cassette only... maybe it was an early version...
