20 Fuckin' Years...

Post by christopher walken »

Happy birrrfday, yo! Wow, well not until November, but Jesus H. Christ if that doesn't make me feel old. Seems like yesterday watching "Wake Up" on o.g. Rap City. Great memories of running all over L.A. with this shit on repeat. Just copped with the iTunes gift card Santa laced my stocking with-- high time I bought this in a format other than cassette. Join me in celebration, if you will, if you might...

dope album and 1990 was a great year for me, I was working in a record store and getting tons of promo albums and maintaining the rap section and selling all the good shit.

I was about 11 when this dropped. I remember my friend buying it on vinyl (wonder if he's still got that OG pressing?) and us not really being that impressed as we were all into NWA/Ice T/Public Enemy/Ice Cube etc

I played it again a couple of years later and was :ohsh:

Its definitely been a grower for me, to the point where I got into a different track every year.

salute!

I'm obviously a huge fan of this album.

This, Tribe's debut, Main Source, and Step In The Arena were in constant birthday-acquired walkman rotation.

that album cover is fresh to death, son. it's called vintage.

It would be nice to see some science on your side on these albums. Like, nothing major, but I kind of miss those write ups you did for individual songs on the blog.

I wonder why they didn't include the lead single, "Brand Nubian," on this release originally. I had been bumping that 12" regularly in '89, and was surprised it was not included.

Anybody know what happened with that?

(I'm refering to the vinyl album of course.)

Perhaps Dante Ross declared Puba's verse on the track wack and had it replaced it with "Try To Do Me."

I just noticed that my files of this album are ripped at 128 Kbps.

Can someone hit me with a higher quality rip?
