on Ultra's Yo Black there is a part where he is making some remarks which all "suspiciously" mirror the rappers on "roll w/the flava"....including Freddie Foxxx with the "how can you put up a fox against an alligator". Then there's the "turn a heavy man lite" (heavy d), "I make mcs go hey ho hey ho" (treach), an prob some more Im forgetting or missing.

If you ask Keith he'll prob tell you it had nothing to do wit the Flavor Unit or that it wasn't a diss....

Foxxx obviously took it that way and made his diss joint.

I think it basically comes down to that. Of course, Keith had a habit of taking shots at others mcs as sort of a "open challenge to everyone" sort of thing. I don't think he generally had real "beef" with them, it was just for the sport mostly. Of course, he'll prob say it is all coincidence though....ha.

On the same album there is the "suspicious" Masta Ase "diss" as well, that I have always been meaning to ask Keith about...

I found what I was trying to remember

http://www.unkut.com/2005/01/forgotten- ... amagnetic/
I interviewed Kool Keith a little while after the Crazy Like A Foxxx single dropped. Keith had moved to L.A. and told me that when he was taking a trip from NYC to LA that Freddie Foxxx happened to be on the same plane. Foxxx was furious about the Yo Black!diss, and Kool Keith was very worried about taking a serious beatdown, right there and then on the plane. He told me he tried placating Foxxx by saying to Foxxx that the line wasnג€™t a diss and that he liked rhyming about animals. Anyway, it seems they ironed out their differences during the plane trip, and everything was cool. Keith sounded nervous of Foxxx though!

^ wurd, in his own words:

http://www.urbnet.com/editorial.asp?UEID=883
What really started the beef between Freddie Foxx and Ultramagnetic?

We had kinda squashed that beef 'cause I saw him in Atlanta. It wasn't that much of a beef because at that time I used to use phrases in lyrics like, "I'll put a tarantula up against a turtle," and "How can you put up a fox against an alligator?" I just used to use different phrases with animals and for one reason or another he had thought that I was dissing him, but I use phrases like that anyway. It had escalated for a minor bit; he thought I was talking about him. He saw me, he confronted me about it. I said, "No, that's just the way I write." We talked about it and we got over that issue. He made a record about it, but I didn't really say nothing back to it. It was awhile ago and I think he was only doing what an emcee does.
Foxx never really seemed to be happy with it tho, i assumed the "Niggaz run outta New York, to live in other places/ Hopin somebody remember old rap faces" on "Part of my Life" was at Keith too.

yo kevin, while we're talking about beefs i never had a story on, any insight to who master ace is talking about on "ace is wild"? it seems pretty directed at someone and i never heard who it was. always thought it was rakim or kane but that wouldn't make much sense.

I always wondered about this too.

We need to get a list of fake gangster rappers from Brooklyn that appeared in porno flicks, circa 1990.

Iג€™m sure all of these comments are old, but where do you guys get this bullshit from. I have never heard a kool keith dis about me EVER. I ran into him in San Francisco years ago walking down the street with some guys (donג€™t know them) he was so fucking scared when he saw me, I thought he was gonna shit his pants. I didnג€™t have a street beef with him so I gave him a pass. As far as all that other homo shit about panties and all that. Cג€™mon man, stop the fruity shit man. not refute mr knuckles..particularly since his "blog finder team" might be on alert :ohsh:

but that doesn't explain why he made the diss song then. If he never heard a Kool Keith diss why did he make the song. The mystery continues. Actually, I wonder if I asked him this when I interviewed him in '98? I can't remember, I'll dig up the tape...

Ive spent so many hours studying stuff like this it's kind of sad...ha. This one I came to decide that it is no one specific. I would "guess" he's just taking random attributes from different mcs that he had an "issue" with. Every time I try to pin point a person one part or more of it eliminates. I can't think of anyone who fits the complete profile...

The problem with most of these is when you asked the mcs, they generally won't tell you anyway or they'll say it was meant for anyone particular. Even in cases where they are laying details that seem to describe someone. I have had a few cases were mcs gave me some "what I consider" ridiculous answers to these questions...ha

There's a Juggaknots song, can't remember which right now,
where they say something like "better off call your crew 'Pu Tang'".
I asked Breez why the jab at Wu and he just laughed and said it wasn't a
dis and didn't say anything else about it.
I could be completely wrong and it might really not have been a wu dis,
though. Heh.

Was that Tim Dog situation the reason behind you making that track about Ultramagnetic?

Nah. They said something slick about me and when I got wind of it thatג€™s how I handled it. I did the second version of ג€˜Crazy Like A Foxxxג€™ for them. It was just a rap battle ג€“ what was good about that was it never a physical problem between Ultramagnetic and myself.
the Tim Dog situation was Bumpy had to fuck some rapper from Texas up cuzz Tim didn't show up for the fight and you know Bumpy had to represent for the east coast.

To me it doesn't seem like a diss as Everlast said word to Kool Keith, meaning he is giving him props, (like he isn't saying this is a word to Kool Keith) and then he says I'mma break up your teeth......so I would say this diss was aimed at someone else or just tough guy posturing.

You don't know who Freddie Foxxx is? Or Kool Keith aka Rhythm X aka Dr. Octagon aka Big Willie Smith aka Dr. Dooom aka Tashan Dorrsett, etc. Meaning you've never heard Ultramagnetic MC's?

Very interesting.

Don't front like Gucci Mane is underground.. Like what is that supposed to mean? So you must be like younger than 20 years old right? Kool Keith is probably your father ;)

OK I had my fun. Seriously though, do a f'n google search on these guys before you show up on this thread all ignorant. Between the two of them there are like 100+ records to show.. Seriously why are you on T.R.O.Y.?

Ehh, young 'uns gotta learn somewhere.
It's a lot of the older generation's fault that they turned out like this.
