And Then Some, Dismasters
Sure Delight, 1989

In 1992, I bought a mixtape by Power House Recordings (who were arguably the mixtape kings of NYC at the time; they also had a very popular techno mixtape series that was called

got-damn they had consistently great tracks. truly gems from the past. i get so amped every time "small time hustler" plays. shit is instant classic.

i've heard that, "you must be crazy", "keisha", and "black and proud" (the bit that is put on fast rap). i wanna hear more!!! someone upload more songs!

With all the Dipset dickriding and soap-opera bullshit that goes on on this site, this post was a breath of fresh air.

I think I've seen reissues of the "Small Time Hustler" 12" around. Though maybe I'm wrong.

The cover of "black and proud" where they're wearing the loincloths is probably the gayest record sleeve in rap history.

Good group though. They were part of the the Bronxwood Productions Crew which was Chuck Chillout, Kool Chip, Funkmaster Flex, Deuces Wild and, a little later, Nine.

The album was decent, but if you have the 4 12"s you aren't really missing much apart from the remix of "you must be crazy".

Good info. I suspected that their affiliation with Chuck Chillout wasn't a passing fancy, especially considering he produced most of the album.

Incidentally, the cover for the album is the same as the "Black and Proud" 12," more evidence that this was not an "official" release.

Bump!

Anyone have the front cover for their LP And Then Some? Or is the thing on Discogs really its cover? Want to add it to MusicMeter.nl, which is like a Dutch alternative for RateYourMusic but I will need a decent cover first.

yep, that's THE cover Harco - the sleeve image is bananas yes, here's the full front cover boosted from ebay for a better idea

the UK release was distributed by reggae distributor Jet Star and released by Sure Delight Records, I remember it clearly, dunno how it looked in the US though...

only a couple of great moments on this album; both tracks produced by Chuck Chillout - Black n Proud and the all time classic Small Time Hustler, this lyric below caught my attention at first and made me realise they werent a novelty, and could actually hold down a dope rhyme

walking the street like a cop on the beat
till the ground gets some meet with the skin on your feet
you're a SKRUM and then some!
You smell like a bum, what you're doing is dumb

classic
