First track is from this record by Big Red and Diamond D.
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8gWe7Ay9B8w&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8gWe7Ay9B8w&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
and here's the sample for that:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/HDHdi40bNlA&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/HDHdi40bNlA&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I'm sure the beat from the promo was most likely an original as most of the promos were over original beats, not instrumentals. But it's the same sample as a joint from the Gravediggaz second album and I believe also maybe a Scarface beat.
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jSE-nmezGRk&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jSE-nmezGRk&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

 No problem.
Nah, whoever the artist was usually had their beatmaker do the promo beats. Like FB did the Pumpkinhead and Poops ones and I guess Jay Biz did the Parallax one, Charlemagne did the Natural elements ones, and so on.

It also depended on who it was. Like the Lord Digga freestyles I'm looking for were over his own beats that he brought with him so they were more like demos than just freestyles. There's quite a few like that I believe.

ill. never knew they did it like that, i knew producers would come up with their samplers and just play joints, but not for promos. thanks.
the hunt for the tape where large pro is up there with his 1200 in '93 is on now. full fledged.

Found this remix lying around while cleaning my computer.

Anyone knows what the beat is?

<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/sh ... on=8,0,0,0" width="335" height="28" id="divplaylist"><param name="movie" value="http://www.divshare.com/flash/playlist? ... 456139-663" /><embed src="http://www.divshare.com/flash/playlist? ... 456139-663" width="335" height="28" name="divplaylist" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashpl ... d></object>

It's on a 2pac and Biggie remix tape made my an internet DJ called DJ Spyda.

The mixtape is called "2Big"

I recognize the sample which is from Carly Simon.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ux7HgO9QhAc

The producer flipped it in a ill way

Wow. I guess I gotta go back through those Freestyle collections cause this shit is dumb raw. That beat is perfect for Cella Dwellas and I'm even thinking that with Phantasm doing the "Duck, duck, goose" hook, that this might be that track that maybe someone got confused not realizing it was live maybe.
I'm gonna post this in the Cella Dwellas thread, thanks Relm.
If someone can id this beat, please do, cause it sounds like a Nick Wiz cella dwellas joint for sure, imo.

Ahhhh this is a dope find!!

The beat is from Da Wolfpack's "Definition", but what's more interesting is the mc sorta references some of the lyrics from it.

Like he says: There ain't no competition, why you wishin? Should have kept your job, you had your pension, bad position.
Or: I searched the system for position, but intuition got me flippin off that soooouuul power.

2nd verse of "Definition": I asked her women's intuition, what's your definition? Cause maybe, baby, I be fittin the description.

Anyways, here's the vid (catch Heather B. at 3:08 lol):

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CZlHkZHv1g0&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CZlHkZHv1g0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

"Crates so deep, even I don't know what the hell I have"
I know he says at the beginning of the record "J Dot" but that yielded nothing, "searchin(g) for the soul", nada, "soul searchin(g)" bubkes. Thanks as always, serch4beatz, Ho1ogramz, o learned heads of TROY.

I got both the Jam D.O.T. records, I ripped them at 320, just have to label them and all that stuff and I'll up them in the VLS thread.
Pretty sure he's also on that ill "Survival Series" record that I upped at the blog awhile back.
Also, Patrock may have some treats that relate in the near future at:
http://boombapboombox.blogspot.com/

And here's that sample, and the samples for Siah n Yeshua's The Visualz comes in too:
