'THE CD AN' SERATOS' ON VACATION TONIGHT' !!!

At the time, I chopped that show down from 5 hours to approx 2 1/2 for a mate so he could rock it in the motor

Flex was on fire that night, and I dunno if this edit interests anyone but he waffled on ALOT, and some of the shit was annoyin, especially when Rosenjerk was fawning all over him, grrr.

I just wanted to edit it down to something more accessible that still contained my favourite bits, the best doubles and all the goodness. All the stories about the rides, the guy from Empire Management gettin murked by Shug, the 'Shout Out to Goongy', the 'Back of the shop' and 'Sneakers wasnt in style then' comment and the bodega mentions.

Things like 'We takin this to THE FEVER, you might know as Rhumba, cos YOU WACK AND NEW SCHOOL' had me in tears. All classic stories and material, the tracks he played were savage and the cuttin was FIRE, but he just went on a bit

That Flex show was amazing. When I heard it was an all 90s show I assumed he'd just be playing Biggie, Wu Tang, Nas etc but he went through the crates a bit and was playing all sorts of shit like 'Footprints' and 'The Large Professor'

He sounded like he was genuinely enjoying himself and the vibe in studio was like a few friends sitting around getting amped over songs they hadnt heard for years which was cool.

My fave part is his rant about The Tunnel - "not you...ME"

he did another one a few months later for Labour day weekend which wasnt quite as good but still worth a listen

Couldnt agree more fella - Flex was like a kid that night, straight amped. He kinda wanted to school people on how easy people got it in 2007 and how much more difficult it was back in the 90s, and the fact that it was a totally different game back then [eg. when marketing people would get the shit kicked outta them cos they didnt push records]

There's nothing happy about the 90s

You can hear it in his tone when he's talkin bout Tim Dog Fuck Compton, he almost yelps at one point

This was an early disrespectful record, from the BX !
Im not in the 90s on some VH1 nonsense !
I did not come up here to play Hammer and Young MC
NO EXTRA SMILIN !!!

Nasty Nas talks about the science of recording radio shows when he was a 'young city bandit'. The importance of flippin up and down the dial/ the colour of the physical tape/ the smell of the tape etc

Nice clip for throwback heads and anyone who remembers puttin batteries in the freezer to recharge em. Gullywood !

If I disclosed everything im sitting on, youd think I was an arsehole, trust me.

I have EVERY Westwood on Radio One from the first show [Biggie and Puffy Live at the Hammersmith Palais, London, March 95] up until the 2000 shows, in a storage space in Belfast, they are ALL coming back to London in March. NO BS ALLOWED, im not one of those, 'Ah, theyre all back at my Mums' smart-dumb cats !

There are approx 40/ 50 Eighties Westwoods on Capital and a heap of Mike Allen, Dave Pearce/ Richie Rich/ Red Alert/ Park Jams and sessions from random Hip-Hop shows world-wide...

YOU know im happs to share with people, people that appreciate and can converse. There are a few on PF, and as youll be aware, 'Big respect is automatic'...

Sheeeeiiit, now im beginning to dislike myself too. If you have any requests fella, just axe me bruh.... :gyeah:

:ohsh: Craig, you really had your radio taping routine down back then. I really wouldn't know what to request cause all non ny area shows are new to me, but I'm looking forward to checking out whatever ones you think are worth uploading.
Thanks for putting in the work to share.

Sheeeeiiit, now im beginning to dislike myself too. If you have any requests fella, just axe me bruh.... :gyeah:
:ohsh:

I really miss my old 1FM Westwood tapes - I used to record the full shows weekly and bump them in my walkman all week.

I thought I still had them all at my parents, and last time we flew back to the UK I checked, only to find that they weren't there - I have no idea what happened to them.

There are a couple of shows in particular that I have been trying to get a hold of.

The first one I've mentioned loads here - it's the show where Ol' Dirty Bastard hijacks the show.

There's another, and this is rather ambiguous but I remember listening on repeat to this on my way to college, with the NY exchange with Flex, and Flex is juggling Onyx's 'Shiftee'opening bars for a while ('IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII got struck by lightning'), and then I'm pretty sure he cuts up Mobb Deep's 'Survival of The Fittest'. Vague, I know.
