MC Shan 'The Bridge' Soul Focus remix

this is a remix I dropped recently on my Soul Focus imprint, thought Id share it here (albeit with the intro/outro beats chopped off!)

We took the Shan acapella and flipped it 'jackin for beats' style over some dope 80s soul beats (Keni Burke/Gap Band/Mary Jane Girls)

http://www.speedyshare.com/files/195872 ... rsion_.mp3
(note: on speedyshare you need to right click and 'save target as' to d/load)

if you want the full version as a 320 or WAV file you can cop it here:
http://www.junodownload.com/labels/Soul+Focus/releases/

theres remixes of EPMD, Grandmaster Flash, Roots Manuva and Uptown there aswell.

feedback welcomed. enjoy!

thanks guys.

Vapo, check the Roots Manuva 'Witness' remix we did aswell. Its in a similar fashion but we used the beats from Grindin, Made You Look, 99 Problems and NORE's 'Nothin'. Sounds heavy :gyeah:

:ohsh: Holee shit. I remixed the same song and was planning on posting it
here in the next couple of weeks.
This is really dope. Completely different direction, so I'll still post mine.
We even start the beat in the same place.
I like yours better, though.
Props.

Thanks, Verge. I appreciate it. I made this whenever the song originally came out (2004?) because I liked the rhymes but thought the beat was wack as fuck. It's actually one of the last things I ever made. I kind of want to get back into making beats so I dug this one up for the thread. Post your shit, though. I'm interested in hearing it. I like the other shit you've posted.

Ha. That's exactly when and why I remixed it, too.
When I was at the college radio station, we got the record as a promo,
and I thought the lyrics were dope but I HATED that beat. It just didn't
sound like no Roots shit to me at all.
The video was even really ill, from what I remember, but they fucked it up
with that garbage beat.
Yeah, I'm gonna post mine, too. Thanks.
Probably over the weekend.

Yo here is my first beat! love to share it with yall. I used the same sample as In the Ghetto from Erick B. and Rakim Let the Rhythm Hit Em. I felt that the original track did not fit the chill vibe of The Nonce and remixed it... Not sure of the original track name, the 12" Live and Direct /ADR Most Requested refers to it as ADR Most Requested and the EP The Sight of Things calls it Articulate with Math. Either way here is the original and the remix below it.

Original - Articulate with Math/ADR Most Requested - The Nonce

Good shit, fellas.
Here's another one from 03 or 04, I think 03 though.
Damn vinyl had an "ess" sound on the vocals. Unless it was
my needle. I can re-do this, though.

Thanks soulsurvivor.

I still got the Roots remix coming soon. It's old, but I'm trying to bust out the old ones first.
And a De La remix that any "Caddyshack" fans might appreciate.
I know, :naswtf: , but you'll understand when you hear it.
It's great for a spring/summer time joint.

Thanks man. It's from a Ramsey Lewis record.

 Yes, I'm gonna try to re-do the Caddyshack one tonight and post it.
When I originally did it, it was a bit off at certain parts.
And I didn't have the soundtrack for Caddyshack.
So, I took my friend's VHS copy of the movie and hooked my
VCR to the mpc and sampled the intro part of the movie, up to
where the sprinklers start, um, sprinkling. :pause:
