I find a lot of times when a sample is interpolated you lose a little something (grittiness I suppose) compared to when it's straight off the record.

i wonder what Jay-Z's "Lucky Me" sounded like before Stevie J played live instruments over it. i really like that song either way ("In My Lifetime" is such an underrated album for a Jay-Z one) but just like the difference here the original Buckwild beat must've been way dirtier.

Word, it seems like in the late 90's (on more than a few occasions) Buckwild was going for a more radio friendly sound...wonder how much the live instrumentation had to do with it though.
