Classic Appreciation: De La Soul- Del La Soul Is Dead

Post by unclebengi »

I had this thread idea for albums we generally consider classics. I would hope we would have enough input to keep this to one album per thread, but if the thread is dying, feel free to just add other albums onto it. The idea is to come up with a list of things about the album that keep you coming back and make it a classic in your eyes. If you don't think the album is a classic, list it's flaws.

I love...

Millie Pulled a Pistol on Santa. One of the first songs I remember hearing that felt like a movie.

The bass line and drums on Oodles of O's.

Shoshana's verses on Bitties in the BK lounge.

The random awesomeness of Johnny's Dead, Who Do You Worship, and Kicked Out The House.

Playing "A Roller Skating Jam Named Saturdays" on as many Saturdays as possible.

Maseo's verse on Let Me In.

The use of the word Slammin'.

Pos's rhyme scheme on Pass The Plugs.

The guitar samples on Ring, Ring, Ring.

add on...
