would anybody be interested in this?

Reminisce about the golden era of hip-hop.

would anybody be interested in this?

Post by ChaMerZ »

i made a little application that scours blogs for entries with valid links (i.e. solidfiles / fileswap) and makes it possible to download a whole slew of albums automatically.

Image

right now i mostly use it for 1994hiphop.blogspot. it's made browsing the site / download albums a great deal easier for me. i'm currently working on adding support for more sites and even possibly extending its functionality to other things (the possibilities are limitless ??).

if anybody is interested just holla as that would be just the motivation i need to actually iron out the kinks and compile this thing.

It only currently supports file sharing sites that don't require wait times ( i.e. fileswap, solidfiles etc). I haven't found a way around the wait times or captchas that sites like zippyshare or mediafire have ... yet. I'm looking into it although it's kind of outside my area of expertise.

It's also not legal (obv). If I did somehow manage it all those sites would probably want to hire me as a security consultant LOL.

For example if I fed your blog into it, it would only be able to pick out the entries that have valid DL links (i.e. sendspace, solidfiles, fileswap). This functionality isn't super amazing but it does make it a lot easier to search for valid links in a blog, especially if it's a massive one.

Sounds great! Is it meant to be used with other medias, like searching for movies for example?

alright, i'll sit my ass down and finish this thing up. I'm doing the coding on my down-time so it will probably take me 2-3 weeks to complete the appl. fully. i'll bump the thread when its done

Hello guys,

Image

BlogAutomatorv1.0 is now complete. Sorry for the delay. With school, job and all I really don't have a lot of free time to work on my personal projects. I decided I was going to at least finish a rough version of the application during thanksgiving weekend so here it is.

The application only supports three blogs right now:
http://www.thisisforthehustlers.com/ (Hip-Hop)
http://thedogsspace.blogspot.ca/ (Punk)
http://beetbak.blogspot.ca/ (Hip-Hop)

These three blogs have a couple of things in common. First, they're all hosted on Blogspot (unfortunately the Wordpress API leaves a lot to be desired). Second, the files are hosted by the blog owners themselves - not any of the popular filesharing websites out there (i.e. sendspace, solidfiles ... etc). The latter point applies more to thisisforthehustlers and beetbak than dogsspace however.

I'm currently working on adding support for blogs like:
http://street-stories-d.blogspot.ca/
http://therelshitforever.blogspot.ca/

where the majority of download links are sendspace / solidfiles / mediafire.

As far as I can tell, the application should in theory be able to support blogs with sendspace, fileswap, solidfiles, mediafire, zippyshare download links (basically any file sharing websites sites which have no captchas).

The application works by going through all the entries of whatever blog you feed into it and only showing you the entries that are 'valid' (as in contain functional download links). After this, downloading the files is (or should be) as easy as double clicking on the download button. It's possible to add support for more blogs (as long as they qualify for the three points I outlined above). This can be done by modifying the blogs.cg file contained in the data folder. I haven't yet added a way to easily do this through the UI, but this is on my list of things to implement.

So yea, the application is still in its early stages. I'd appreciate any constructive criticism on the user interface, functionality, ... etc.

If you need help getting it to work or got any questions, shoot ...

peace

P.S.
If there's a blog that you frequent that's

a) hosted by blogspot
b) contains download links that are direct (i.e. you just click on the link and download starts automatically)

then blogautomatorv1.0 should support it out of the box. I've only found like three blogs so far with these three criteria. for only three blogs, the application isn't super impressive, but once you've got something like 10+ blogs installed, then it's utility starts to become evident.
