Tiger Style

Post by De Seven Free »

...10.4 ain't nuttin to fuck with.

http://www.apple.com/macosx/

Doesn't look that revolutionary, but I think we'll hold on getting the overdue new work machines until they start shipping with Tiger installed.

Spotlight looks like it could save me a shitload of time. The capabilities of Core Image they showed off last year were pretty amazing, but I can't see Adobe etc writing their apps to depend on it. Dashboard looks kinda cheesy, I'm not into distracting bits 'n' bobs all over my monitor.

I can't see any mention of being able to write to FTP servers in the Finder. And they better have fixed the Finder annoyances - like folder sizes etc not updating - that you need to use stuff like 'Nudge' to fix. And maybe one day, we won't need a bunch of third party utilities (MacJanitor, Cocktail, DiskWarrior) just to maintain healthy Macs.

Word - that Dashboard thing looks annoying.

They need to change the email client - its horrible.

Also, speaking of FTP, do you know of a good (free) FTP client? I'm using Transmit at the moment but its only a demo version. Someone told me you could just use Safari but I can't get it to work. Plus i'm kind of new to this so dont really know what i'm doing.

And did you get that Deep Wound link i PM'd you?

I use Cyberduck - free, open source and user friendly.

Yeah, Mail is a pain in the arse. I just love the way it puts a big fuckoff preview of any graphic files you attach, right there in the middle of the mail you're composing. I use Thunderbird, but it's crap that it doesn't work with Address Book.

And cheers for the Deep Wound EP!

Been using the leaked version thats been floating around on the web.

Its simply Beautiful.

On first lanch, they put an emphasis on Spotlight. The world welcome in various languages.

Dashboard is ill, all those little widgets and crap, track airplane flights is fun, they always seem to dissappear some where enroute, scary stuff.

Spotlight is a spot blower, all you gotta do is type .mpg and the files you trying to keep secret pops up. just kidding though, you can set it up not to index areas of your computer.
