Word up thanks for the preview. I hear Catharine O'Hara's performance actually is oscar worthy.

Ricky Gervais' part in the preview was great. He's definitely a great add to this kind of cast...

I always think that Guest's movies look obvious and dumb on paper, but then they are overwhelmingly funny. These are some talented peoples.

^^^ the concept is always super thin, it's never any kind of high minded sharp satire or anything. Teh success lies entirely on the performers, I don't even know how much credit Guest deserves as a director beyond picking people to work with, since most of the dialogue is improv

Just saw it. It's good. Not fantastic or anything, but good.

I think his movies have gone downhill since Waiting for Guffman.

Guffman > Best in Show > A Mighty Wind > For Your Consideration

I think the trend that's hurting his movies is the bigger the cast, the worse the movie. When there's too much going on the focus is lost.

But a Christopher Guest movie that isn't as good as other Christopher Guest movies is of course better than most movies out there.

Definitely. When she was wearing those glasses later in the movie... Oh yeah. She looked fantastic.

I work with a guy who Assistant Directed this movie with her in it called The Oh in Ohio. It was all about sex and she's the lead. His favorite scene is when she tries out a dildo for the first time. He said it was the best job he ever had.

just saw this yesterday, better than a mighty wind by far, everyone does a good job in it. ricky gervais and fred willard have some of the funniest parts, i wish that larry miller and guest had been able to do more, i kept waiting for miller to say something, seemed like he only had one or two lines. i really like the parts where people are all talking over each other, i gotta go back and pick up some of the lost dialogue there
