I had the cardboard Death Star as a child. I sure as fuck never had a plastic Hal or a wooden black monolith.

See, I've attempted to watch 2001 again and again just to see if that "See you next Wednesday" quote that John Landis refers to in most of his movies really is in there. Unfortunatley, I keep falling asleep everytime. Star Wars will always get my vote anyway. My favourite movie of all time.
