So I just so Transformers (that's right one day before the "World Premiere" and I thought it was great. Very entertaining, if you're a Bay fan you'll like this movie. It should be a huge blockbuster.

Will and Martin are great, and they do mostly make the first one. That's not the one i'm talking about.

bad boys 2 is what it is because of:
- boat on the freeway
- haitians
- constant 360 slow motion pans
- Joey Pants and detectives detecting shit
- they invade cuba
- the crazy cuban drugdealer

etc etc etc

it takes a special kind of man to deliver that level of over the top retardation.

i agree with gregg a 100%, a movie like transformers needs specifically that kind rediculousness. it needs to be as big and loud and stupid and reliant on big explosions and special effects as possible. it's absolutely pointless otherwise

EXACTLY....No one else could have made BB2 what it is.....I've always liked Michael Bay films, he is the modern day Hitchcock in the sense that people used to say Hitch was nothing special and any director could direct a hitchcock film then Truffaut and the french pointed out his brilliance and the rest is history.... Now I'm not saying Bay is on Hitchcock's level just that one day when we look back at his movies we will see an auteur...

I'm just saying take Michael Bay out of the picture and it is still probable to get a lot of the same stuff you listed. Most of the stuff you listed has to do with the script. For example, the script called for Hatians... not Bay.

To me there is no difference between one ultra huge studio director and the next. Bay, Ratner, Singer... interchangeable. I think you guys are working an auteur theory that doesn't exist in big-budget studio films. These are more movies by committee than they are personal works of a director.

ratner is not very good action director imo. other then the rush hour franchise, i don't know what else he's done that's that great.

byran singer is great. no doubt in my mind but i don't know if he fits in with what i'd want the transformers movie to be like.

ratner is a tool btw, if there's anybody to hate on there is the guy. any credit for the rush hour movies goes to tucker and jackie chan + stunt team
