Stalker was lacking something Marienbad has. Can't really put my finger on it.

And at least Bergman is often times accessible and has a cohesive narrative.

I just can't believe you honestly think this is top 50.

marienbad has a kind of seductive, mysterious quality to it. really, if you want to take it to basics, the thing that Marienbad has that Stalker doesn't is sex appeal

bergman often bores the shit out of me.

this movie is not really meant to be accessible, but the narrative is pretty cohesive for an existential mind fuck. interesting to note too that the source material isn't like the movie, tarkovsky basically took some implications of difficult metaphysical dilemmas and ran with that shit like forrest gump

for what it is, i genuinely think it's one of the best if not the best.

A remake double bill.

The Thing - Classic Carpenter movie. The paranoia and suspense is oozing all over this film. No matter how many times I've seen it, I never tire of it. Amazing how there hasn't been anything to top this in the sci-fi horror genre after all these years.

9.5 / 10

House of Wax - Not a patch on the original but was still quite entertaining. Starts off in typical US teen horror fashion but once the first hour is over things start to kick off. Elisha Cuthbert in a vest is great. Paris Hilton can't act to save her life but I didn't find her as annoying as that One True Hill fella with the little nose who's in this.

6 /10

Hot Rod - Fuck whoever on this board said this crap was funny. Samberg can't carry a movie nor did he have any idea how to play his character. Only redeeming qualities were Danny McBride being a funny motherfucker and they somehow got Al Swearengen in the movie. 3/10

The Sacrifice
9/10
My favorite Tarkovsky flick.

Cadillac Records
6/10
Generic biopic type shit, but Jeffery Wright kills it, as usual, as Muddy Waters. Mos Def really needs to do more film.

Let The Right One In
10/10
Love this fuckin flick. Ending is fairly creepy and depressing but dressed up as somewhat happy I guess.

Scum

An extremely young Ray Winstone in one of his first acting roles ever and he's a badass here too. This is pretty much the British version of "Bad Boys" (the Sean Penn one) and it's solid as fuck. Some great acting from everyone involved which is surprising given the ages of all involved. Some solid brutality throughout.

7.5 outta 10.

Watched Dancer In The Dark last night. :ohsh: @ Bjork, she was phenomenal.

Movie was indeed a downer, but I mean, you can kinda see where it's going pretty far in advance. It didn't hit me as hard as it could have because I had been mentally preparing myself througout the movie for what was going to happen.

Great flick though. I'm slowly working my way through the movies from the Best of Decade tournament.

There Was a Crooked Man

Dope little Western/Prison Break movie that delivers.

Kirk Douglas, Henry Fonda, Warren Oates, Burgess Meredith, The Skipper from Gilligan's Island = actors for days. Good performances all around as you would expect from this cast and the plot is entertaining enough for the genre. A couple of surprises here and there keep things moving and it's pretty funny too.

7.5 outta 10.

I watched the Zombie Diaries. Its a zombie movie so you gotta watch it. Just another one of these diary type films. I still find the concept intriguing but so far no one hasd been able to nail it yet quite right. The twist was interesting enough but they never really made the scene you truly wanted to see which was non infected humans raping zombie sluts.

Rented four flicks over the weekend...

Traitor - This shit sucked. Cheadle couldn't save it either. I fell asleep halfway through and had no desire to watch the second half the next morning.

Burn After Reading - For whatever reason, I wasn't expecting to like this at all. Turns out I really enjoyed it and laughed way more than I have during any other Coen Bros. flicks. Brad Pitt was great, as were Malkovich and Frances McDormand. Clooney was just there, really.

Death Race - Mindless fun with endless explosions. Statham is the man; can't wait for Crank 2. It was hilarious that Tyrese's character was a gay dude. And COTDAMN, Natalie Martinez is my new wifey;

Standard Operating Procedure - Documentary about the abuse and torturing on the Iraqi inmates by U.S. soldiers at Abu Ghraib. Depressing stuff, way too long, and you don't really learn anything new that hasn't already been covered to death by the media since all of those pictures were first leaked. Was disappointed in this.

Zombie Strippers - not nearly as entertaining as I thought it would be. Zombie Jenna Jameson looks better than real life botoxed to fuck Jenna Jameson though. Movie tried wayy too hard.

War, Inc. - Was pleasantly surprised until the last quarter, where it kind of fucked everything up in a most obvious way. Ending was foreseen and stupid. The songs were weak grade 'walk hard', but Hilary Duff gets a pass. Marisa Tomei is a favorite, need to watch the wrestler.

Blood Simple - Goddamn great, no clue what took me so long to watch this, would make a Coen top 5

Towelhead - 8/10 - Found this to be really interesting. Deals with a lot of different themes, some better than others, but it's nice to see a movie about a girl dealing with her developing sexuality. Some scenes are horribly uncomfortable, but given the subject matter, they should be. Aaron Eckhart's number one pedo.

Brides of Dracula - It's like a Casino Royale for Professor Van Helsing. Still rough around the edges but destined to become Dracula's nemesis. This is early Hammer when they had US money backing them and it looks really lavish. 8/10

Curse of the Werewolf - Oliver Reed as Leon the Spanish werewolf in Terrence Fisher's darkest Hammer offering. One of my fave Hammer films and easily one of the most unique. 9/10

Kiss of the Vampire - Another early Hammer movie. Vampire cult kidnap the newly wed wife of an English snob while on their honeymoon. The film is one big cock-block until the what-the-fuck ending (vampire bats kill all the vampires). 7/10

Yeah, great film. Snooker-ball-in-the-sock scene is fucking timeless.

I downloaded this ages but only got round to watching it the other day.

First time in a while that a movie has scared me. Thought it was a pretty original take on a played out genre.

Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires? It's not very popular amongst Hammer fans as it was ultimately cashing in on the west's Kung Fu craze during the 70's. The story is fucking silly, some evil Chinese fella goes to Transylvania to get help from Dracula and Dracula morphs into him instead and that's how it kicks off, but it's still a really dope entertaining film. Peter Cushing looks really clueless and out of his element, but it's a really fun flick. I'd advise you to rent it or DL it if you have serious doubts though.

i've never felt so guilty about being pretty much super horny throughout an entire movie, and i'm convinced that's really all this film is about.

I was hoping Eckhart would have had her lick the blood off his fingers after he was finished.

I think that will be the main effect because it's the focus of the film. It kind of goes out its way to drop themes in order to focus on the pederast angle.

She's definitely going to replace Hayden Patneitnerea as my go to for masturbating to their earlier work material.
