The Walking Dead - Season 1
Moderator: drizzle
That'd be awesome if you could upload that. Do you happen to have a reader for PC or know where to find one? We should put that comic thread we had way back back up. There was a bunch of cool shit in there that I never got around to reading A friend of mine loaned me the first compendium of The Walking Dead today. It's got the first 48 issues in it, i think. I've been reading for a few hours so far and I'm only about a quarter of the way through. It's a really, really good comic book. I've been reading comics off and on since I was little and this is one of the better ones I've read. I highly, HIGHLY recommend it.

dunno. Using perfect viewer which is a free app on Android. Took a second to customize the settings to my liking, but not a single complaint after that.Mark 563 wrote:Is there a Comic Book readder Ap for iPhone?PopeyeJones wrote:Five issues in on the comic. i dunno, i thought tonight was pretty ehhh...
they stretched out the blonde chic/dead sister shit for waaaay too long, and the part where she shot her was the lamest shit ever. the fact that anyone would be against leaving jim behind after he got scratched was fucking retarded also. i like the show a lot but with each episode, there has been a pretty big drop in quality.

You can hardly call that an explanation. Especially considering the scientist dude clearly still has very little knowledge of how it works. Besides, if it isn't a disease of some sort, what other possible explanation for it is there?odium-LSC wrote:meh, I thought tonite was just ok. So it's a disease? lame how they just went ahead and explained what caused this shit when in the comic books I'm about 70 deep and they still haven't explained shit.
I liked last night's episode. Disagree about the shit with the sister, I thought that was one of the show's stronger attempts at really making an emotional connection with the characters. In a genre as over-saturated as this one, I don't think I've ever seen a scene where a character stayed with the dead until they came back to "life" just so they could say goodbye. Pretty good.
The only thing I didn't like is that they let that dude that got bit live. Now he's going to be a zombie and could possibly kill other innocents. I woulda put an arrow through his forehead.

No, the CDC thing didn't happen in the comic book.
I think one possible problem is that they're trying to put the cart before the horse. We've only known these people a few days, only about a month or two into the outbreak, yet everyone behaves like they have assimilated into the new reality and now the most important thing is the eternal power struggle. I think a few episodes of people in pants-shitting terror over zombies would have been nice instead of going straight to the soap opera.

I dunno mayne maybe that's how it is post apocalypse. Couple days of freaking out then human nature takes over.Reggie wrote:No, the CDC thing didn't happen in the comic book.

For folks who have read the books, spoiler oriented question kinda related to this:Ramen wrote:One thing I found a little unreal is how that dude just took his family and left.
Am I correct in assuming that in this version Merle will become The Governor? I figured maybe having the red shirts leave the group like that would allow for them to come back later in Woodbury?

really surprised at how good the series is. i only read the first set of about 10 comics but so far the show has gotten rid of most of the dumb bs in the comics.
show isnt perfect and glosses over some really important details (not about anything related in the comics just about the logic of the world theyve created) but overrall a really quality viewing experience. if only hbo couldve had a piece of this show, couldve been goat type shit

@ popeye; That's an interesting idea. I could see that working in a way. Do you think Merle is going to be putting in another appearance next episode or are we going to have to wait for some point in the future to see ol' dude again?
EDIT: That's weird. IMDB has him credited as appearing in 4 episodes this season including last nights episode.

http://tv.ign.com/articles/113/1137550p1.htmlThe Walking Dead has gotten terrific ratings for AMC and a quick renewal, as it heads into its season finale this weekend. But now comes word of a curious overhaul behind the scenes.
Deadline is reporting that executive producer Frank Darabont has let go of the show's entire writing staff, including his number 2, Charles H. Eglee (Dexter, The Shield). As Deadline notes, many shows have some writer changes in-between seasons, but it's unusual for such a major overhaul.
In addition, Deadline says they hear Darabont wants to go forward into Season 2 without a set writing staff, instead assigning all scripts he doesn't write himself to freelancers. Deadline points out that Darabont fully wrote two episodes of the first season (and co-wrote or re-wrote the others) and that two of the others were written by non-staff writers, including Walking Dead comic book creator Robert Kirkman. They also note that Darabont would be using the same model employed by Torchwood, which has several writers working on episodes for the upcoming re-launch on Starz (including Buffy's Jane Espenson), but no full time writing staff.
One hurdle for Darabont to do this however may come in the form of the Writer's Guild. Torchwood -- which just added another Buffy alum, Kelly Manners, as a producer -- is coproduced by the BBC, who got the okay from the Writer's Guild to continue with their UK template.
