Looks like the near mythical rumors were true after all these years.

Clive Barker's Nightbreed: The Cabal Cut teaser

<object width="853" height="480"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/CX0-A ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/CX0-A ... 3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="853" height="480" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Considering the lost archive footage was sourced from a couple of VHS tapes, I doubt we'll ever get a pristine print of Clive Barker's film anywhere. Doesn't put me off one bit though.

First official trailer for Dario Argento's Dracula 3D.

<object width="853" height="480"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/sPT-w ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/sPT-w ... 3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="853" height="480" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Hauer's take on Van Helsing has enough potential to give Hopkins' over the top performance a run for it's money. Terrible CGI effects aside, the rest of the trailer doesn't really capture the gothic vibe I would expect considering the subject matter in question and the less said about Thomas Kretschmann the better. This film looks like it's made for TV. Still going to watch it as I'll no doubt find some unintentional entertainment value like Argento's other post nineties work, especially so when going in with very low expectations.

This'll probably get taken down off the net quick.

Maniac teaser. Actually looks really awesome.

I went to a pre-screening of Chernobyl Diaries yesterday, assuming it was a documentary... Obviously it wasn't...

I'm not a horror movie buff by any means but some quick thoughts: Awesome setting, but the writing in this movie is dumber than anything I've seen in a while with some terrible plot-holes and the characters really go out of their way to keep getting in trouble. I kept crawling in my seat mumbling "wtf... oh, come on man..." towards the end, it got really agonizing at points. In short: dumb movie, cool setting, pretty scary but underwhelming when you think back on all the sloppy writing.

I expected it to be dumb and predictable, that wouldn't put me off it if I found it entertaining.

You honestly thought it was going to be a documentary?

I really did, I'd never heard anything about it and was just offered the pre-screening (just started working in a movie theater). Can't say it was too crazy expecting a gloomy documentary but it was cool to switch frame of mind as the movie started.

It was entertaining for sure and when there's that much tension there's no time to gripe about writing... Then it ended in a pretty stylish fashion and people seemed excited. The movie's probably great for what it is and you should trust them more as I'm not usually into horror movies tbh. I just think for a movie to be truly great there shouldn't be too many apparent flaws in logic etc.

Total Film just published their worst Horror movie sequels list and it's mostly wack as hell. Presented a la Complex repetitive strain injury style, I took the time to post the whole list to save anyone else the bother.

http://www.totalfilm.com/features/50-wo ... e-sequels/
50 .Creepshow III (2006)
49. King Kong Lives (1986)
48. The Stepfather 3: Father's Day (1992)
47. Boogeyman II (1983)
46. Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 (1987)
45. Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977)
44. The Amityville Curse (1990)
43. Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (2000)
42. The Birds II: Land's End (1994)
41. Omen IV: The Awakening (1991)
40. Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1995)
39. Return Of The Living Dead: Rave To The Grave (2005)
38. Saw III (2006)
37. Sorority House Massacre 2 (1990)
36. From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangmanג€™s Daughter (1999)
35. The Hills Have Eyes II (1985)
34. Lake Placid 3 (2010)
33. Prom Night IV: Deliver Us From Evil (1992)
32. Sometimes They Come Back... For More (1998)
31. Wishmaster 3: Beyond the Gates of Hell (2001)
30. Witchboard III: The Possession (1995)
29. Anaconda III (2008)
28. Seed of Chucky (2004)
27. The Fly II (1989)
26. Lost Boys: The Tribe (2008)
25. Troll 2 (1990)
24. A Return To Salemג€™s Lot (1987)
23. The Wicker Tree (2010)
22. Fright Night Part 2 (1988)
21. Jack Frost 2: Revenge Of The Mutant Killer Snowman (2000)
20. Return To Sleepaway Camp (2008)
19. Blade: Trinity (2004)
18. Candyman: Day Of The Dead (1999)
17. Leprechaun 4: In Space (1997)
16. Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (1992)
15. Pumpkinhead: Ashes to Ashes (2006)
14. Halloween: Resurrection (2002)
13. Pet Semetary II (1992)
12. American Psycho II: All American Girl (2002)
11. Critters 2 (1988)
10. The Ring Two (2005)
09. The Rage: Carrie 2 (1999)
08. Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986)
07. Jaws: The Revenge (1987)
06. Howling II: Your Sister Is a Werewolf (1985)
05. Child's Play 3 (1991)
04. Freddyג€™s Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991)
03. Friday The 13th Part V: A New Beginning (1985)
02. AVP: Requiem (2007)
01. I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998)
A few major gripes:

ג€¢ How the hell is Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning so high on the list and Jason Goes To Hell or Jason X are nowhere to been seen?

ג€¢ Poltergeist II makes the cut when the total abomination that is the third film does not?

ג€¢ Fright Night 2, WTF?

ג€¢ How the hell are you gonna hate on the Hills Have Eyes 2 when it has a dog having a flashback to the first film?

ג€¢ Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth is indeed the series jumped the shark, but damn them for not including the even shittier follow-up films.

Both of those films are definite purchases for me. I've had Rec 3 on pre-order months ago and Oupost 2 is released only a week after the aforementioned.

Most of that film was flashbacks from the first one.

There's a remake on the way this year.

Knew about Cockneys Vs Zombies being in production quite some time ago and didn't expect much. Trailer caught me by surprise as it looks like a lot of fun, doubt it'll be as good as Shaun of the Dead or Attack the Block, but you never know. At the very least it'll be a refresher course in cockney rhyming slang.

Some decent ambercrombie action:

It just got announced that there will be a new horrorfestival opening this september in Copenhagen, which includes a meet&greet with Lamberto Bava. Awesome. Inbred is the only confirmed film so far.

Inbred is supposedly a terrible film from what I've read on last year's Frightfest forums. That's not going to put me off as the teasers appealed to me greatly, besides which, it can't be as bad as Chandon's previous film, Cradle of Fear.

Did not have a clue about this film until only very recently. Looks like a lovingly surreal homage to Italian horror of the seventies. Has massive potential to be the next Amer.

Berberian Sound Studio
A sound engineer's work for an Italian horror studio becomes a terrifying case of life imitating art.

Looks good for sure. I was actually wondering why there aren't more gialli-homages being made. There's a huge market for it and the psycho-sexual overtones are about as contemporary as you can get. The new De Palma looks like another one. The Amer-couple is working on a new one last I heard.

Don't remember if I've posted about it before, but there's only a month til Kotoko gets released. Looks scary as fuck, Tsukamoto-films can really get under your skin and this looks more disturbing that anything else I've seen from him.

Supposedly a direct sequel to the '74 classic. Can't say I'm too impressed with this trailer as it looks generic as hell.

Totally agree with you about "Who Can Kill a Child", great fucking film.

I'm interested to see the remake. The usual "why?" question always comes to mind, but it sounds like they'll be a bit less psychological, faster paced, and more gory.

Have to say, I bought Who Can Kill A Child a year or two ago and while its a good movie, I don't think it's a top tier horror.

Yeah it might just have been the mood I was in but I hated the couple so much that I was rooting for them to die the whole time and that made the actual horror aspects of the film ineffective. It's well-made and memorable but didn't suck me into its world.

Horror seems like the genre that there is the least amount of consensus on as far as what's good and what's shit.
That Maxim list is all over the place. It's wierd seeing dead-ass classics like The Innocents and Eyes Without A Face next to trash like Inseminoid (I don't mean that as a slight).
Isn't there a longer unedited cut of Raw Meat out there?

I dunno, I have the DVD under it's British title, Death Line. Have no idea if that's a longer cut than the US print. Creep seriously ripped that film off.

Did you seriously diss Inseminoid?

Personally find Plumage and the rest of the Animals Trilogy a little overrated. Deep Red and Tenebre are the worthy Argento gialli.

Go see, Blood & Black Lace, Solange, Duckling. Girl Who Knew Too Much is also worth watching.

Mrs Wardh is worth checking for Edwige Fenech.

Spartan did you not see the parentheses? I meant trash in as loving a way as possible. I'd place it somewhere between Forbidden World and Creature on the trashy but fun alien horror scale.

I really like The Girl Who Knew Too Much. It's like a very violent Hitchcock movie. Some gorgeous B&W cinematography too from what I remember.

THE HOUSE OF THE LAUGHING WINDOWS is also very good IMO, but not really much of a giallo. It's more like a paced, psychological horror.

As for Argento I don't think Opera is to be missed.
