Re: "Better Call Saul"
never really put much thought into how his illness began...
and Kace, i think at this point, Jimmy doesnt care what happens to Chuck. When he stormed out of chucks house at the end he basically said, SEE YA LATER HOMIE, GOOD LUCK WITH LIFE LOL.
and in my opinion Chuck is already recovering or able to do things without Jimmy's help (HHM catering to his needs anyway, like shutting all electricity off already), so I just truly believe Jimmy closed that chapter of his life and is moving on, not looking back.

Heart-breaking.
Re: "Better Call Saul"
I think you nailed this. Mike's conversation with the nerdy pharmacist mentioned it. That there's good people that are criminals. It seemed to foreshadow Saul's embrace of being a sneaky criminal defence lawyer.drizzle wrote:I don't see him doing anything to get back at Chuck, I feel like he's just gonna cut him off. The most stinging thing about the whole betrayal is that Chuck is essentially right about Jimmy just being Slipping Jimmy with a law degree, despite his best efforts to go legit, and we know Jimmy eventually gives in to the reality of this. The name change now seems like a way to cut himself off from the McGill name and his past history with HHM, not cover for a crime or whatever. Incidentally it also ensures that Chuck's good reputation in the law community doesn't get tainted by Jimmy's shady shit going forward. Which yet again proves that he's essentially a good person who just happens to be good at bending the law.
This thread is now starting to hit Breaking Bad thread levels of depth and analysis. That's a good sign for the show.

Yeah maybe Chuck will get better now. The show already hinted a few times how Slippin Jimmy might have triggered his mental illness in the first place. With him out of the picture his condition could improve. But somehow I still get the feeling something tragic will happen next episode, like Chuck dying.

Hey, by the way who's Curt?
Re: "Better Call Saul"
I don't know why, but I've been expecting this from the first time we met him. He's a tragic character. His death seems inevitable.Kace wrote:I still get the feeling something tragic will happen next episode, like Chuck dying.
Re: "Better Call Saul"
This may be a stretch but I'm still waiting to see if the fact that Chuck was involved in drafting the agreement between Sandpiper and their clients/inhabitants, that there may be a conflict of interest for the firm that results in Chuck/HHM having to pull out from the lawsuit. If this was the case, and Jimmy gave the case to them based on the 20k up front and a cut of the final settlement/award, then Jimmy may only wind up getting 20k and getting fucked out of the cut later on.
The show went out of the way to mention how Chuck was the one who drafted the agreement and he missed some of the language included in it a couple episodes ago. I don't know why they'd mention that if it didn't wind up having some later significance.

I completely missed this whole thing about an agreement between sandpiper and chuck.

Re: "Better Call Saul"
I'm kinda unclear on that myself. Chuck mentions something about 'this was in the files I worked on and I missed it?' when Jimmy shows him the 14$ qtips on the bill, but I wasn't sure if that refers to the files Jimmy dropped off for Chuck or some previous work Chuck did at HHM.

Re: "Better Call Saul"
Jimmy dropped the wills off hoping that Chuck would complete the paperwork on them since he was swamped, and also to try and get his brother back into the lawyer rhythm(remember him mixing up the form numbers and Chuck correcting him, plus him looking through the window once he dropped the boxes off). Chuck completed all the paperwork(you had me paint the fence like tom sawyer, get a paralegal etc.) but was genuinely shocked he didn't catch the overcharges while doing the paperwork on the wills.drizzle wrote:I'm kinda unclear on that myself. ohhhh right...
holy shit. i wonder if that is something they overlooked then, because that can play a huge part in all of this.
If Jimmy does go and work with Sandpiper lawyers he can call Chuck out on that and do some damage to HHM. But I'm not sure he wants to hurt Hamlin or Kim at this point. or Chuck.

Re: "Better Call Saul"
pretty sure the wills have nothing to do with the suit bruhs.
the clients likely included their expenses and Chuck didn't think anything of $14 toilet paper if he even seen it all. remember Jimmy didn't know either until the lady brought up her allowance.

Agreed, I was just responding to Drizzle's question. The only thing I can maybe see is if Chuck did the paperwork on the wills maybe HMM can claim the elderly folks as their clients.

Re: "Better Call Saul"
I'm hoping Jimmy is just gonna hand them the case and walk away with the deal.
But I do feel that sense of dread about Chuck too. I don't want shit to happen but Gilligan isn't always a subtle dude. I want them to leave it alone and just have Chuck conflicted between the guilt of rejecting his brother and his beliefs about how law should be represented, while Jimmy struggles to overcome the damage to his ego. But in the universe of giant magnets and train robberies, I'm not sure if they'll settle for just a psychological hit.

Re: "Better Call Saul"
Chuck is such a good character would be a shame if he died. But I'm kind of expecting the worst cause even though Jimmy cut him off he doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would abandon his brother.

Re: "Better Call Saul"
Well we know Saul isn't wealthy in BB, so something has to come of the deal, maybe he gets the initial 20k and they screw him out of the backend settlement? Maybe Jimmy tanks the case or gives it to another firm?drizzle wrote:I'm hoping Jimmy is just gonna hand them the case and walk away with the deal.

He actually once mentioned during BB that he once convinced a girl that he was Costner so he could fuck her. How did he get her to believe it? Because HE believed it. I don't remember the episode or the context, but I remember the speech.

Yeah the ring was always on him in Breaking Bad.
And there is an image floating around reddit/the internetz of Saul having a convo with Walt in the car regarding Kevin Costner and believing in yourself.

Re: "Better Call Saul"
Not a great finale but ultimately just a sendoff for Jimmy.
I thought we found out Chucks stresser when Jimmy said his mom died 3 years ago but according to Jimmys meeting with Hamlin he's only been doing supply runs for a year.

Re: "Better Call Saul"
i thought the ending was a little too ham-fisted
I mean I understand Marco was all about Jimmy even when Jimmy left him for 10 or so years never calling and even never checking in when he came back to Cisero(opposite of Chuck). We all discussed what the cataclysm could be for Jimmy to change to Saul, and now it seems he actually had an opportunity to join a firm but turned it down. I understand maybe Jimmy is finally doing what he wants to do but the ending didn't really seem to work for me.

was jimmy really away from marco for 10 years?
Re: "Better Call Saul"
also are you kidding me it was a great season finale
it wrapped up some stuff about why he becomes Saul.
that convo at the very end between Mike and Jimmy was the best.

Re: "Better Call Saul"
Agree with Tweak, this was a little off, especially after how monumental the last episode was. They stumbled on the 'It was teh greatest week of my life' and from there on it was just a little to heavy handed and on the nose. The thing with him wanting to go back because of an obligation to his clients doesn't really jive with 'fuck all this shit i'm taking the money next time'. Mike's 'i got paid for a job and that's it' felt much closer to the middle ground between good intentions and shiftiness that Saul settles on. Feels like they were just in a rush to get to the point where he's free from his involvement with Chuck and anything to do with HHM so they just plowed through the last few obstacles indiscriminately.

Re: "Better Call Saul"
I understand this point of view, it did seem a bit rushed at the end of the finale for him to all the sudden decide to free himself from trying to live a legit lifestyle. However, I think he had a moment in clarity, in that even with the amazing opportunity right in front of him, he felt no satisfaction from it, because his desire to become legit was never really about obtaining a high degree of success, it was about gaining Chuck's respect, and that dream is now officially dead.drizzle wrote:Agree with Tweak, this was a little off, especially after how monumental the last episode was.
