2 things elevated It Follows for me.
The Disasterpeace soundtrack doing sinister af John Carpenter synth scores better than Carpenter's own Lost Themes album.
Olivia Luccardi owning it by reading germane Dostoevsky quotes at appropriate moments and the perfect comic timing of her fart joke.

I haven't seen 3 of these yet but there's no way It Follows is better than Crimson Peak.
Crimson Peak is one of the most beautiful looking movies I've ever seen, horror or otherwise.

I really should check out some horror movies from this year.
All I saw was It Follows, which I enjoyed, and A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night, which I had to turn off 5 minutes in for how overly unrealistic the first scenes were to me.

Visuals and atmosphere are the two most important things you need to get right to make an effective horror movie.CarlosDelgothoes wrote:Yeah but i dont give a fuck about that when im watching a horror movieTommy Bunz wrote:Crimson Peak is one of the most beautiful looking movies I've ever seen,

I might be wrong but I think Req was commenting on your preference for Crimson Peak was because of its gothic beauty, and aesthetically pleasing visuals don't solely equate to a great horror film, e.g The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Word. But even with Texas Chainsaw Massacre, you may not want to call it aesthetically pleasing but its actually an exceptionally shot film. Watching the remastered blu-ray really was a revelation to me.
