A cover song from a Serge Gainsbourg tribute album called "Monsieur Gainsbourg Revisited." The song is called "requiem for anna." It's sexy.

There is also a fake promo-vid going around.

I'm not hating, and I love her voice now, but it is very different from 10 years ago. She has lots of range on the portishead albums, but I think her voice is very different now and she has far less range. Compare her on "portishead" to "out of season." Not necessarily a bad thing though, I think her voice now is sexy as fuck. But something about it has definately changed. I'm open to hear other theories.

Oddly enough, much as I've felt their previous work, this song feels uninspired. I'll give it some spins and see if it grows on me, no sense in instantly writing something off.

I downloaded the whole Serge Gainsbourg tribute album that this song is on... It's an extremely disappointing project, and I'm a fan of his and a lot of the artists on there. The whole thing sounds like it was thrown together in a week. I doubt this track can be taken to mean anything about the quality of their new album.

(by the way, have you seen this?)
