Very impressive. I think one of those potential edit points happens right before the shotgun part I mentioned earlier, when Cohle goes to check the backdoor before he grabs Ginger. The shot goes mostly black, but you can make out his figure in the doorway.

The team that makes this show should adopt all James Ellroy novels.

HBO still owns the rights to the American Underworld trilogy. Tom Hanks was involved last time around

I'm assuming this the point, but really seems like the murder has taken a back seat.

turn your fucking brain on, other than the marty marriage troubles subplot, everything else has been directly related to the murder investigation. the whole reason cohle went undercover was to get to ledoux, their prime suspect.

I can't stand Greenwald. He also loved orange is the new black which is one of the worst new shows in last year.

How bout we all meet halfway and accept that "Orange is the new black" is simply okay? It's "fine".
Definitely not fucking with this show on any level so whoever that writer shitting on this and championing OITNB is a total hack.

Well that last episode really brought the action and suspense we'd been waiting for.
This show keeps an erie sense of mystery throughout every scene. It's great to watch.

The way they've captured Cohle's drug use has been great, and I wish they kept that going in the drug house raid. He was fucked up on loads of drugs, but it seemed like he had a clear head.

Was he all fucked up though? I thought he took like a bump of coke and a rip of meth. I forget if they showed him getting fucked up on the ride to the raid or not .

At the backyard hoedown I'm pretty sure he had some meth, and at the house before the raid, I think he did a rail or two. I also can't remember if he did anything on the ride over. They were portraying it like he was getting fucked up, but other than some bug eyes in the raid they stopped it to make way for the long sequence. It's a bit of nit picking by me, because that last scene was amazing.

That shot was amazing. But why did Ginger just keep waiting around for Rust to punch him and drag him places? To be fair, I only started asking that question after I watched the shot for the third time.

I'm pretty sure the pan/tilt to the helicopter contained a cut, but I'm not sure.

he did at least a few lines of cocaine & a bump of meth. have you done either of those things? you don't think they fuck you up or something
