I wish I could say I still did. Used to follow them very closely, but my fandom only extends to checking the monthly results these days. Sounds like Biff Busick and Drew Gulak are their guys moving forward, which is about as good a homegrown top-2 as you can hope for. From all indications, CZW is a rollercoaster ride of good and bad shows as well as sub-par booking. DJ Hyde has done a fairly good job of finding the under-utilized talent of the east coast and giving them a showcase, though.battlecatmeowstab212 wrote:Does anyone here actually follow CZW?
CZW has always been a great launching pad to bigger indies. It's like the indy that the other indies are watching. Their alumni list is fairly impressive: Steen, Generico/Zayn, Chris Hero, Claudio Castagnoli/Cesaro, Cole, Jon Moxley/Dean Ambrose, Sami Callahan/Solomon Crowe, Samuray del Sol/Kalisto, Sonjay Dutt, Adam Cole, AR Fox, Rich Swann... then guys like Roderick Strong, Alex Shelley, Jimmy Jacobs, Ricochet, Chuck Taylor, and a bunch of others that were already on the map, but not necessarily indy stars yet.
Toys 4 Tots at Cage of Death has been a thing at least since Cage of Death 4, which was my first CZW show.
The main event of COD XVI should be interesting, as it has the new vs. old dynamic going on. Sozio/Niles Young and Blk Jeez/Sabian are sort of the "old guard" of CZW, while Busick and Gulak represent the elevation of a couple younger guys. (Not to say Gulak hasn't been around CZW for quite a while, but his profile has really elevated in the last couple years.) Also, I'm a sucker for spotty scramble matches so the 6-man should be pretty rad.
