Look out for Aja's new movie this year, Piranha 3D. The original was a b-movie classic, the remake was lame and Aja's version should be the great.

Frit Villt taps into a very primal fear for us nordics. "Fjellmanen" also happens to be the coolest character I've seen in Euro-horror. With a solid #3 (I hear it will be a prequel, yay!) they'll perhaps have the only credible slasher trilogy since forever.

I did hear of Piranha 3d, I'll be there for the premiere no doubt.

Fritt Vilt 2 - Didn't mind the ending at all. It also shows how claustrophobic a small town in Norway can look. Once again they assemble great and credible characters. The nerdy cop and the nurse has one of the best awkward romantic scenes I have seen. Everything worked and luckily they kept it short without trying way too much.

The Killing - Kubrick noir-heist outing. Old man wrestling and Johnny taking care of business are fantastic scenes. When Johnny slags off the femme fatale it's with real venom. The cast is just amazing in every way and the aftermath of the heist is extremely thrilling.

Ms 45 - A mute seamstress gets raped twice in a day and starts to go mental, taking her vengeance randomly to the streets, after reinventing herself as a rapist-killer superhero. I can't believe this isn't a Lustig movie, especially looking at the comical way they show the hostile environments. There's a lot of humor but it doesn't take away from suspense and the serious things they are trying to communicate.

Master of the Flying Guillotine - There are just so many fun details and memorable fights in this one.

Eden Lake - Shows in a non-PC way how ugly and terrible youth can be. You can't always let your desire to be civilized and kind allow people to shit on you, and I'm glad this movie is void of liberal tolerance. Naturally they could have pussied out and left them be, but that wouldn't have been very fun. Much like Ils the ending fucks with your head, but in a more mencaing way, atleast to me. Fucking British parents.... Why is this on so few top10 horror-lists of the decade??

Ms 45 is highly under-rated. Copped the French disc a while back.

Eden Lake is cool, kind of panders to the Daily Mail brigade, I much prefer Ils though. More subtle and suspenseful.

The Descent - Big fan of the creakers. Better than Dog Soldiers, this one. Great colorwork in the cave.

Sex & Fury - Christina Lindhberg stuttering through her English lines and naked sword-scene was ill. On the other hand not enough stands out to make this a truly special experience to me. Lots of boobs but not enough fury.

Texas Chainsaws Massacre II - A lot more demented and grotesque than I remember it. Usually these franchises turn stale when they attempt to be funny, but this one manages to still be enjoyable.

Thriller (A Cruel Picture) - One of my strongest cinematic experiences ever. Too bad it turns dull somewhere around the hour-mark, the action-scenes leave a lot to be desired too. This could be remade into the greatest movie ever if they kept the gritty mood. There are hardcore pornographic sexscenes with a guy cumming all over a butthole and shit. They actually cut open the eye of a corpse for one of the scenes. The swedish antagonist is the sleaziest character ever. Once again, Tarantino, but atleast hes open about his sources.

Baise Moi (Fuck Me) - Fits comfortable under the umbrella of French Extremism. This movie has the craziest trivia ever. A French pornstar co-directed it and acts in it. She killed herself a few years later (not dissimilar to the ending). I was devestated when I read it. This one is strongly feminist and nihilistic. Two girls go on a robbing and killing-spree, fucking dudes and sometimes killing them afterwerds. There are also hardcore pornographic sex in this one, erect cocks entering mouths and vags and shit. The other woman who stars in this was apparently gang-raped and used the movie to get back at her assaulters. After shes raped in the movie she tells her crying friend to stop sulking "It's just dicks. You fucked plenty of guys so who the fuck cares??!" Many people hate this movie, and while it's not a perfect movie I dare say they simply miss the point. Highly uncomfortable but a supersexy movie at the same time. An underground classic, to me.

I've always wanted to watch Baise Moi, just never had the motive to track down an uncensored version.

Goes without saying, The Descent is probably my fave horror flick of the 00's

Not a a fan of Thriller. Already written about it in this thread somewhere and a few other CYE threads.

TCM2 is a much loved gem. Hopper is awesome and Chop Top is a criminally underated horror icon. Definitely check out Funhouse if you're a fan of Tobe Hooper's TCM movies.

Need to come back hard in this thread and watch some movies again.

I don't post enough in this thread considering I watch several movies a week, so I'm going to try and contribute more here.

Here's what I watched this week:

The Hangover (2009) - Didn't find this nearly as funny as most people gave it credit for. I did enjoy the

appearance, since I didn't know about it in advance. The ending with all the pictures was pretty hilarious.

Rebecca (1940) - I love watching Hitchcock films, but this was one I had never seen before. A few twists which were expected and a really strong ending.

Fahrenheit 451 (1966) - I knew the story going in since it's based on such a famous book and knowing Truffaut directed it, I figured it had to be good. It's so funny living in the 21st century and watching movies from 40-50 years ago about the future. The sets look extremely dated, but the TV's in this movie look exactly how they do now, widescreen and mounted on walls.

Blue Velvet (1986) - Prior to this I had only seen 2 David Lynch films, Eraserhead and The Elephant Man. I had no idea what I was in for. Thankfully this was no where near as odd as I found Eraserhead to be. Really cool plot with a great performance by Dennis Hopper.

Bell Book and Candle (1958) - Jack Lemmon is one of my all-time favorite actors, so I watched this mainly for him, but also for James Stewart who plays the lead. Nothing really great about this one, just a romantic comedy about a witch falling in love with a regular guy.

Bite the Bullet (1975) - Watched this one because it starred Gene Hackman and James Coburn. It's basically an early 1900's version of The Cannonball Run but on horseback, and not nearly as funny.

The Pianist (2002) - I had no idea this was based on a true story. I just watched it because I love movies involving Nazi's, plus Roman Polanski directed it. This movie had a few

moments. That wheelchair scene was brutal. Really liked this one.

My Favorite Year (1982) - This one features Mark Linn-Baker, so throughout the entire movie I kept expecting Balki to pop out. Decent movie, Peter O'Toole was great as a drunk.

man?...why?, this was pretty lame, weak script, very predictable and some terrible acting, Alicia Witt might be hot, but she is not a good actress and Leelee was very poor as well, Pacino wasn't bad, it was the move that let him down, if this had a better producer and director, it could have been really good.

Thanks to Jimmy, I finally got to watch this movie. Pretty decent, it is very downbeat but an enjoyable watch. Kind of a Thelma & Louise with grainy porn. Some scenes make fuck all sense however and the supporting cast feel very black and white with only our main two female protagonists displaying any complexity or depth. The film feels and looks very amateurish, but that does add to the rawness of it all. 6.5/10

I thought this was really good, strong performances from Joaquin, Jennifer and Mark and I enjoyed the story, direction and the way everything unraveled, I don't know why I had never seen this before.

Good assesment. I'd give it solid 7. Still can't decide if I think the girls are bad actors or not. Karen is really dark and a bit passive, while Manu is really spiteful and cocky. Somehow the amateurish acting goes well with everything too.

Slasher double-feature, with only a slight hint of shame

Sleepaway Camp (1983) - Very campy summercamp 80's movie with lots of summernostalgia. I didn't see the ending coming and it was quite unsettling. It's American Pie Bandcamp with some kills, but a lot funnier and generally an enjoyable dumb movie. 6.5/10

Toolbox Murders (2003) - I wonder if the plot from the original was the same. In this one a skimasked murder go on a killing-spree with his toolbox. That would have been enough for me, but Tobe Chainsaw Hooper and his crew tried to do way too much with the story, atleast they didn't really tie everything together elegantly. I like how it shows the apprehensions and fears you may have when you move into a new place, neighbours fighting and fucking and everything being new and a bit creepy. 6/10
