IIRC on the DVD commentary they made mention of how on the set people had joked around about how one of the prosthetic heads they had rented looked like George W.

A few days ago we (and, like wildfire, every other entertainment site) reported that, due to lack of props, a replica of George Bush's head was used in the Game of Thrones Season 1 finale, "Fire and Blood." The factoid was revealed via audio commentary this past February when the Season 1 DVD/Blu-ray set came out, but for some reason it all became huge news two days ago, despite the fact that they dressed the head in a wig and faced it away from the camera.

Now, after releasing an official apology on Wednesday night, Deadline reports that HBO has decided to pull the entire episode from all digital distribution, including HBO Go and iTunes. Also, the shipping of Season 1 DVD box sets have halted.

From HBO: "We were deeply dismayed to see this and find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste. We made this clear to the executive producers of the series who apologized immediately for this careless mistake. We condemn it in the strongest possible terms and have halted all future shipments of the DVDs, removed it from our digital platforms and will edit the scene for all future airings on any distribution domestic or international.

davos basically shamed him to make sure he didn't bring the woman with him by telling him that if he used the red bitch's magic to win king's landing than his followers would think that she's the one that runs shit and ultimately respect her more than stannis. stannis is too proud to let that happen, and too honest and straightforward and too invested in being a soldier anyway (hence him being the first in the boats and the first up the wall).

killing renly was unavoidably necessary because renly outnumber stannis' army like 5-1, he had no chance there and would've just gotten all his troops killed before he even got a shot at the actual crown.
