Also loved the east African foster child who came into play, even though I thought that scene was weird. He looked very Minnesotan. I wonder how he will come into play? Seems like he will have to somehow.

I think the point of the African refugee story was to incite the chubby detective. He said he would steal everyday just to survive even though he knew it was wrong. The detective realizes she's going to have to do something immoral just to catch Lester.

I thought it was more foreshadowing the run in with Nygaard and Malvo, with the police of chief in a new town running into this kid he's been trying to find for months all of a sudden showing up out of nowhere.

This episode was aces. Loved the attention to detail in seeing the Danny Gans billboard as the camera pans through the Vegas strip. Knew Lester's Asian wife was a goner, but still let out an audible "Goddamn" when it happened.

^ the recurring "aces" Billy Bob kept saying in the beginning of the episode had me cracking up.

At this point I'm not sure what I want more between Lester dying or getting caught for everything and going to jail for life. Guy is just evil.

It's funny how lester is evil but malvo is clearly way more evil but we're rooting for him instead of Lester, not sure how I want it to end though, last nights episode was definitely aces

peanut butter wrote:Comparing TD to this is a little unfair, obviously, because we have the knowledge how dissatisfying the TD ending was. Of course I suppose the same could be possible for Fargo, that the show is just gonna throw up on itself in the final moments. I have much more faith thats not going to happen here tho
bung bung. haven't read past where i am (just finished last weeks) but that was pretty much exactly what i was going to say in regards to td v fargo. really just popped the head in again to say of course stephen root is in this show, what in the world hasn't that dude been in in the past decade+ (one of the all time fav dudes, so no complaint of course). got spoiled on the end of yesterdays ep but gonna sneak it in before sleep

Does anyone know what's up with a season 2? I feel like we're going to get his with a cliffhanger ending next week and have unresolved issues until next season.

If there's a season 2 it's going the True Detective route, new characters and a new storyline.

Interesting. I think they did say the finale is 90 minutes. So we get a bit extra. I think the preggo lady wins and we get the happy ending with everyone dead or caught.

my gut says that gus (hanks) winds up catching or sacrificing himself to catch/kill malvo and that lester is either killed or caught red handed by molly. malvo has a tape of lester admitting to doing the killing if memory serves so that may pop up as well

Molly's dad will probably play a roll as well.

did anyone notice Lester only printed a one way ticket for himself before they left?

I think the cops definitely have to win in some capacity or else their whole pretense of "this is a true story told exactly the way it happened" wouldn't be able to be told since no one in the hypothetical universe they've created would be able to tell the story otherwise. (i.e. if malvo or lester gets away then the whole story would never get confessed to be retold)

I highly doubt they'll veer away from the movie so far as to let the 'force of evil' figure win. My guess is Malvo kills Lester, and Molly kills Malvo, though it might be as note-for-note with the movie as that.

So in the year that we fast forwarded, Lester has thrived in his new persona that resulted from his stapling of the two retarded bullies.
I can believe that seeing Malvo would shock him, and cause him to return to his original persona.
But I don't buy that he would confront him like he did in the elevator.
It'd be one thing to walk up to him at the table, get told off, and then wisely walk away.
To pull the shit he did in the elevator is unbelievable. Malvo should've left 4 bodies in there.
Still loving the show (SLTS), but hate how dumb 80% of the characters are.

The dude literally got away with murder, framed his brother for it, and got a new wife and business out of the deal. He was always a fucking idiot, and now he's a gassed up idiot. Doesn't seem that crazy that Lester would try to swing his dick and fuck with Malvo about his new persona in an attempt to embarrass him.

I didn't think he shocked Lester into his old character. Would old Lester have pushed the elevator door open to talk to him? Would old Lester have tried to hit him in the head? Hell no. And, I don't know why the fuck Lester did that, because obviously, Malvo didn't kill Lester and didn't even seem hostile towards Lester. He didn't even threaten Lester. (Lester was a total dumb fuck for not playing it off like he was mistaken and walking away though).

To me, I feel like the 'momentum' (if you will) is switching from Malvo more to Lester, as in Lester is now one step ahead. Obviously he sent his wife into the shop in his coat to test his paranoia to see if he was right and Malvo was in Bemidji to kill him (after all, he could have just sent her in there with no coat). I feel like Malvo is for once getting kind of desperate (for Malvo). The whole diner scene with him and Molly's Dad made him seem more desperate than any other time in the show.

Anyone got any theories? Sorry, but I love talking theories.

I have a couple bare-boned theories/ideas:
1. My main theory is that Lester kills Malvo, and ends up life in prison. Maybe his brother will beat the shit out of him (prolly not, but lol if that part happened).
2. The deaf guy is coming back. The last things Billy said to him, and the fact he has been totally absent since then makes me think the writers are trying to make us not think about him so they can surprise us.
3. Someone is going to die/dead body disposed in some strange manner.

couple things- i thought he printed two plane tickets but i could be wrong. also- i thought the whole "this is a true story" bit was bs both for the movie and the show simply to mess with people's heads.

I feel like its gonna go the very predictable route - Molly saves the day, Lester loses. B bob...i dunno...could go either way.
