Inception - Directed by Chris Nolan

Post by Truth. »

http://www.variety.com/article/VR111800 ... id=13&cs=1
Leonardo DiCaprio will star in "Inception," the science-fiction film that Christopher Nolan ("The Dark Knight") wrote and will direct as his next pic at Warner Bros.
The project shoots this year and is slated to be released in summer 2010, with Nolan and Emma Thomas producing. DiCaprio's deal is in final negotiations.

Script has been kept under wraps but the studio calls it a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind.

DiCaprio, coming off "Revolutionary Road" and "Body of Lies," will next be seen starring in the Martin Scorsese-directed "Shutter Island" at Paramount.

Sounds interesting. I'm sure it'll be good, but I'll wait for more specific details about the plot before I get excited.

this sounds good

but it's interesting that it doesn't look like neither Nolan nor the studio are tripping over themselves to start the next batman

so what? honestly, i think both Dark Knight and Prestige are as good and in some ways better than The Departed. Let's be realistic, the chances of him making another goodfellas or raging bull are slim to none. Not to mention that there are directors still working who are arguably better than Scorsese, to me anyway.

and who the fuck are you to dictate somebody else's personal preference anyway? he's not making a critical judgment here, it's just what he likes

It seemed like an odd choice for favorite working director. Calm your ass down. Take it down to a 3.

Trademark has said The Aviator was the best movie of its respective year and hypes it up like it's one of his favorite movies of all time. When you consider that Scorsese's also made Gangs of New York and The Departed this decade, it's hard to see someone with that high of an opinion on The Aviator (which I think the majority of people would agree is the weak link of the three) thinking that Nolan is making better movies.

i'll take you down to a 3 you son of a bitch

Aviator and gangs of new york are hot sprawling overlong ghetto messes anyway, both good but too much of a good thing can be a serious detriment. Marty needs to reign his shit in and get with some tighter editing. Him and QT should arm wrestle for the "king of every idea I have must be filmed" title. Even the Dark Knight, with its ridiculous extra 40 minutes of meaningless mafia subplot, seems lean in comparison.

That wasn't my point Sasha.

My point was that if you think The Aviator is one of the best films of the decade (which Trademark does) it's odd that you'd think Nolan is better, considering that GONY and The Departed aren't precipitous drop-offs from The Aviator.

:ohsh: how do you know da gawd's childhood moniker

maybe trademark is just gay for Bale. maybe he doesn't like the aviator as much as he did before. maybe he didn't like GONY or Departed as much as the aviator. the point is, it's presumptuous as fuck to make condescending ":naswtf:" statements regarding an opinion based purely on personal preference

I guess I better answer here. The Departed isn't great neither is GONY, the Aviator is, so is The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Prestige, and Momento ARE JUST THE BEGINNINGS of Nolan's career, Scorsese is pretty much on fumes at this point. Aviator=Dark Knight, I ENJOY Prestige, Batman Begins, and Momento more than GONY and Departed, I don't think they are better films just enjoy them more. I have yet to be more ENTERTAINED by another director than Chris Nolan this decade. Do I think their are better directors working? Of course, is Scorsese the better overall, of course. I would say, with one year left, that The Dark Knight and the Aviator will be in my top 5 of the decade.

I hope that helps.

Though its plotline is still a tightly kept secret, Christopher Nolanג€™s next film, ג€œInception,ג€ is coming together. Last month, we reported that Leonardo DiCaprio had come aboard to play the lead, and that Ellen Page was rumored to be the next to sign.

The rumors were true, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, Page is coming aboard, along with Cillian Murphy and Oscar winner Marion Cotillard. (Clearly, he had to have one familiar face among all the newcomers, even if it was the Scarecrowג€™s!)
page better not act gay in this movie

I can't believe the lack of love that the Departed gets. In 20 years evryone will be calling it one of Scorseses best.

I really like The Departed - I quote that shit almost daily - but that is a truly ridiculous statement.
