To take this seriously,
Denzel Washington really?
I don't think I've ever seen Denzel Washington in anything and even for a split second forgotten that I was watching Denzel Washington.
Also, just calling him "Denzel" is reserved for middle-aged, mom jeans black women who have a pre-negotiated "one celebrity I can fuck if I get the chance" joke with their husbands.

denzel washington is a good actor. thats not what my point is gona be. but d. washington is no versatile actor. when have you ever seen him in a role when he wasnt shit. you know, not a strong part. when he plays a buck toothed down home louisiana fagot that develops a new system for irigation but gets pushed around by his white neighbors for being a fagot. and a nigger. then I will put him on my list for versatile actors. hes will smith but without the jokes. and true story about him, he has it in all his contracts that he does not have any kisses or fuckings with white bitches. i dont know if thats good or bad. i guess he wants to keep it legit in the black communities.

this conversation should've started and ended at John C Reilly. Some decent suggestion made otherwise, but nobody is matching this guy's range in this day and age. Sam Rockwell could maybe be a runner up.

he is easily one of the greatest actors of our times but it's hard to express versatility when you lumber out of a remote irish cave once every 6 years to grace us with your presence in a super important film event (barring Nine of course). Riley takes far more chances and most of the time he nails them

Agreed, however the range of characters he has played are nothing if not versitile. From the My Left Foot all the way to Gangs.drizzle wrote:he is easily one of the greatest actors of our times but it's hard to express versatility when you lumber out of a remote irish cave once every 6 years to grace us with your presence in a super important film event (barring Nine of course). And wtf is up with Nine. I truly gave a genuine effort in watching that flick but I jsut couldn't get through it. Those songs were beyond terrible. WTF was he thinking? Out of the mountain of scripts that were blocking the entrance to his bathroom, he chose Nine.

i agree that his roles are def not 'samey' in the same way that denzel's are, but he still limits himself to heavy drama overall. incidentally that might just explain why he chose 9, to break out of the dour into something more lighthearted i guess.
as far as the movie itself, i'd say just watch the og 8 1/2 which is pretty much one of the greatest statements ever recorded on the process of movie making and the artistic process in general
