wacky costumes, wacky accents - is this a Parker movie or a Dortmunder movie? unless the trailer completely misrepresents the movie they got A LOT of this wrong

I was kinda optimistic about Statham in this too, but he's not really doing the character justice either

I am resigned to the fact that we will never get a good Parker movie. This looks like a decent enough Elmore Leonard rip though.

A lot of the movie was filmed near me at the Boca Hotel. Any movie with Vic Macky, :bunk: , Nolte, J-Lo and God I'm seeing.

OHGOD YES

no joke, i've been thinking of nothing but what would make a good modern parker movie as the trailers and shitty impressions for this started pour in, while in conjunction reviews of The Outfit have randomly popped up all over the net

So far I came up with Michael Mann as director, Slayground and Butcher's Moon as source materials. Statham is not the worst choice for parker, although I've been trying to come up with meaner and more humourless alternatives too.

Dolph Lundgren randomly came to mind. He's the right size and build, and the right look and age too. Parker is supposed to be generally monosylabic, so the 'acting' wont be too much of a problem. All he has to do is look mean and glare and punch and shoot, which we already know Lundgren can do well.

Dude. Gary Daniels. Mann totally works. William Friedkin though?

Is Parker, Payback, and Point Blank the same movie?

nah

Payback and Point Blank are based on the same book and have similar plots. Point Blank is more faithful to the source since it was made only 5 years after the book was written. Payback is modernized, and the theatrical version deviates from the book quite a bit. There's a director's cut of Payback which is more faithful to the book but I was actually kinda disappointed with it, things that worked well on the page didn't translate well to screen.

This new Parker movie is based on a totally different books, one of the last written in the series.

Daniels is not bad at all, could work. If we get somebody better he could also easily double as Grofield or Handy McKay

Friedkin is a great idea... I might have been skeptical before but after seeing Killer Joe I'm convinced he still got it.
