Holy shit, you ain't kidding. This thing is dope, but I hope someone can figure out how to make something similar for a few hundo instead of the $15K it currently costs.Mercuthio wrote:that cab shot is really cool.

It's neat and all, but it's not letting you do anything you can't already do. It's just making it a lot easier. (and more expensive)
Stuff can easily be steadied in post these days too.

It's cheaper to do it in post over and over and over again than to buy a little camera backpack thingy?TeenageMoustache wrote:It's neat and all, but it's not letting you do anything you can't already do. It's just making it a lot easier. (and more expensive)

Or you're just talking about for one-off indie folks?

People would probably rent these out for one-off jobs, no? Kinda like reds

It costs 15k, so mainly the indie folks. You can buy a merlin for around $600 that will do essentially the same thing, and any short comings can be cleaned up easily. If the shot is steady to begin with, a stabilizing effect is just a click of a button to smooth things out.
I guess my main point is that movies aren't going to look any different to the viewer. It's just eliminating some headaches for the camera crew. (if it's as advertised)
